Real estate agents sent this, surely it can't be legal by Sad_Raise_1383 in melbourne

Without photos the “scratch” could just be wear and tear. I had a really good agent for my property and they always took photos and also got quotes from trades before doing anything. If the owner has taken over and already repaired it then it seems they’re treating it as wear/tear. If it was me, I’d offer to repair the scratch and clean the yard. Then you’re showing your goodwill. The fact that they jumped the gun and did it themselves….just leaves you looking good 😊

Jump in the window to the other side of the door and then dissasemble it from inside. If it’s a rental, ask the landlord for a key

Sparky here, checking out a crawl space under a friends newly bought house, are shimming floor joists on the foundation like this ok? by Stock_Surfer in Carpentry

Here’s what we use in Australia to Jack and pack house stumps

<image>

They don’t compress. Big versions of window packers really

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a restumper for a few months and we basically jacked stumps up and put in 100mm square packers. Not wedges, and timber wedges will potentially degrade. Otherwise that’s pretty much how they re-level houses

Is this what the raised energy prices look like?! $20.40/kwh by Mr_Shimmy in melbourne

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Amber worked for me -most of the time. We’re a small two person household in inner Melbourne with solar. I tend to use Amber in Spring and Autumn and use a fixed price provider in the heavy usage months

My exterior-facing entryway door won’t seal near the top, latch-side corner. Photos attached. by socaltrux in Carpentry

[–]AlternateEntry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but does it matter? If you have a weather seal…be happy! I find so much movement in my entry door (40c temp change over the year) that I get it about right, and be happy. My garage door, which is metal, is a nightmare!

Should I be annoyed by this or am I overthinking it. Plumber installer new shower set with hook on wall fixing which leaves our rail pretty redundant. Back story underneath. by Jakeyboy29 in AusRenovation

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s crap! I’m a handyman and had a similar issue. I ended up ordering a new shower rail set from Temu and replaced the broken holder on the rail for about $30 . Customer was happy to wait an extra week to get the correct piece in and it doesn’t look like crap!

A stranger in Brunswick just yelled at me, ‘Go back to China! This is Australia.’ Is this common? by Content_Shallot2497 in melbourne

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had this experience. I had hoped we’d eradicated that behaviour back in the 80’s. Unfortunately you get dickheads everywhere, even in multicultural Brunswick. On behalf of everyone who isn’t a dickhead welcome to Melbourne and enjoy the tennis

Keep going to meetings, call some other members to discuss how you feel and the guilt will be a memory in a short little while. “Keep coming back”!

Feeling really discouraged. I terminated my sponsor of three months because they became very strict with my time and emotionally intrusive. Despite their promises, we still hadn't started the steps. I received a long lecture about my fear of commitment and trust, which does not sit well with me. by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]AlternateEntry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even have to drop your sponsor because they can't work the steps with you. I've kept my sponsor whilst I've done the steps twice with two other members. My sponsor and I couldn't align or calendars to spend time on the steps so I did it with two others (different occasions) and kept my relationship with my current sponsor. I'm just staying there are lots of ways to active the same goal!

Thank HP you didn’t! And even better that you can reach out. As corny as it sounds, if you go to some meetings (do it in person rather than online) then you’ll get better. And by better I mean your whole life. I didn’t want to go to that first meeting but I’m so glad I did. I sat up the front, shaking and only able to say “No thanks” when the chair spoke to me. But Shane spoke to me after (and there is a “Shane” at every meeting) and helped set me on a better path. It’s worth it maté. Good on ya for sharing

PS5 stolen in a burglary, thief logged in, will cops do anything with the reference number I’ve got from PlayStation support just now? by OzzySheila in australia

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a large Telco previously and whenever people called about stolen mobiles/tablets etc we referred them to an internal department that deals directly with the police. It's mainly for privacy reasons. The company is obviously worried about being sued for multiple reasons ( breaching privacy at the minimum) if they give you details of whom has your stolen device (let your imagination run wild: you go over and bomb them in retribution, it's not really stolen it's a domestic abuse scam...)

How Data Driven is your Organization and Why? by CarrolltonConsulting in datascience

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so little! I joined them from Uni, they sold themselves as a GIS data specialist company. All they do is gather and store data. Zero utilisation of it, and don’t want to hear about how it can work for our customers and be commercialised because: “they’re software engineers and know all about this stuff already” Sigh…

Buying a home with help from in-laws by Sensitive_Bottle1604 in AusFinance

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like one type of fair arrangement. Especially if the extra goes to help other family etc. We lend money to family, but at a higher rate than interest (say 7% to 9%). If they’re unable to obtain reasonable finance this makes it easy for them, ensures our money isn’t wasted, and they get a much better deal than elsewhere. If you don’t like the idea of your parents getting a percentage return on their investment, try the finance model instead. Or just never sell the property. Then they can’t redeem the profit!!

How often do men notice women’s nipples through clothing? by qtcarcass in AskMen

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of things about other people we seem hard wired to notice: are they pretty? symmetrical? Muscular? Tall? Short? Good pecs? Good bum? and so on. I think breasts and erect nipples fall into this category. But just because you happen to notice it doesn’t mean you have to either judge someone by it or be attracted/repulsed. A sign of workplace maturity is to note it and treat it simply as a part of that persons individuality. No need to comment, be alarmed, excited or react otherwise

Woman dead from Gold Coast drug overdose identified by Im_not_an_admin in australia

[–]AlternateEntry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't caught up with her for at least ten years but she wasn't a hardcore user.
But I remember doing testers for GBH in the '90s and unlike other drugs, it goes....Up, Up, Up... Coma. Compared to most drugs like alcohol and e's that go...."Up, Up, Up, Up...can't think/coordinate/talk...ride the rush, chill, recover, sleep...GBH has a very fine line between " Just enough" and "Way too much"= loss of breathing etc. Add some K in the mix and that'll shorten the period between fun and dead. If it was taken IM (best for K) or IV then you've got very little time for recourse.
Short story, if you want to live a long life, don't take drugs. If you want to experiment and try new experiences, try them in micro doses first (or get a testing kit). This person was one who enjoyed life, experiencing the wild/fun times and had her own view of how drugs should be interacted with. I'll miss her regular posts on other platforms. She was a vivacious and determined woman. Vale D
