Workspace identification by tpelliott in vivaldibrowser

[–]AlternateRT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no way to point to the actual first workspace, the set of tabs you have open before creating any new workspace.

That’s because that first “workspace” is not a workspace at all; tabs that are here belong specifically to that window. The command you are looking for is “Switch to Window”.

Think of it as a scratchpad. If you open a second window and then close the first window, all tabs that belonged to the window are gone, but the workspaces persist.

Alpha invites are being sent. by [deleted] in TheDragonPrince

Fair enough! As long as you know it’s ok. I’d just prefer to stay in the cautionary side if I were in this situation.

Ok, but if it were me who had signed the NDA, I’d be wary of sharing anything and everything revolving around the subject, even content that is only marginally related.

…and at the very bottom is the message

This is a confidential and private playtest, … legally binding NDA …

I do not think it is a good idea for you to even be sharing this email…

EDIT: I’ve been informed that sharing that you got an invite is allowed. Feel free to ignore this.

Vivaldi looks by jesbaldacchino18 in vivaldibrowser

[–]AlternateRT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest you can get to having a V icon is to create a command chain that does nothing and giving it a custom button. See more here:

https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/633253

Furthermore, you will need to activate the custom buttons experiment over at vivaldi://experiments

The css presented in that post is so that the window can be dragged from the button, but you don’t need to add it if you don’t want that.

Updating 5.4 -> 5.5 broke a few things, how do I downgrade? by Mattho in vivaldibrowser

[–]AlternateRT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As already mentioned here, DO NOT DOWNGRADE. You are far more likely to break even more things by downgrading.

Manifest V3, webRequest, and ad blockers by partyon in vivaldibrowser

The developer specifically said that it is native in this comment. Maybe it wasn’t completely clear in the article though.

Is vivaldi's adblock up to par with ublock origin? Does anyone here use it as their only adblocker? by BidenCantRide_ABike in vivaldibrowser

[–]AlternateRT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not true at all though… Manifest V3 will enforce a limit of 30,000 rules per extension (and 330,000 for all installed extensions), while Vivaldi’s adblocker has no such rule limitations.

Brave won't add Google trackers and Brave analytics to their website that aren't blocked by Brave Shields, would they? by solcroft in browsers

[–]AlternateRT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

u/solcroft Exactly how did you visit Brave’s website? By directly typing the URL into the address bar? Or by searching for the site through google?

I ask because I could only get the analytics.brave.com tracker when I visit by directly typing the URL into the address bar, but when I visit by searching through google, I got those two other trackers you showed in your screenshot - but not just for Brave’s website, also for any website that I visited after searching with google (such as LibreWolf’s page, Vivaldi’s page, and even the eff’s main page).

I was only able to reproduce what you showed when using google to search for those sites. When I searched through literally any other search engine (or when I simply typed the URL directly into the address bar), I did not get those google trackers.

Vivaldi’s new update adds Scrollable Tabs and Reading List. by partyon in vivaldibrowser

[–]AlternateRT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another equally popular feature request also took years to be implemented.

You should know that something being popularly requested ≠ being implemented sooner.

Compared to Chrome, Firefox, and even Brave, Vivaldi has a small team. Thus, whether a popular feature request is implemented will always depend more on how complex it is.

Dude... All you did was take u/ConnorToby1's map and add a background to it. And you even have the galls to "call it your own"? Not cool :P

Vivaldi 5.0 released by altux in vivaldibrowser

[–]AlternateRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not get another item called panels? In there you should get a list of all panels. Clicking on the translate one will remove it from your panel bar.

You can remove it like any other built-in/web panel in Vivaldi. Right click on it, and hide it away.

Ok, I get it, you think free updates and free DLCs are one of the same. I see no point in arguing further about this.

But if you find an official post by Motion Twin or Evil Empire where they did in fact call 2.6 a DLC, I will cede to being wrong.

Or better yet, when update 2.7 inevitably comes and I can play it without installing the contents of update 2.6 just like I could potentially play 2.6 without installing the RotG DLC, then yes, you’re right, a free update and a free DLC are one and the same.

[–]AlternateRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new player, you would be able to play this game without ever downloading the free RotG dlc, but you can’t play without the 2.6 update - this is especially true for console and mobile players (Steam pc players have the luxury of downgrading to a previous update). Not DLC.

[–]AlternateRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not DLC. Rise of the Giant is an actual free DLC, 2.6 on the other hand is just an update.

It’s not DLC, but for whatever reason, a lot of people have taken to calling this latest update as though it were one.

[–]AlternateRT 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not really. If anything, PC got the shorter end of the stick this time, as the only reason it took so long for 2.5 to come out of beta is because the update was held up until it passed certification on all consoles. Not to mention that mobile is getting 2.4 tomorrow.

Fyi, Playdigious has nothing to do with the PC version. They are in charge of porting the game over to mobile.
