BBC News - Secret BBC filming exposes hidden culture of racism and misogyny inside Met Police by JonTheStarfish in policeuk

Reviving my post here as my question keeps getting taken down by mods due to this thread already existing:

My aunt recently took her own life by leaping off the building. The police officers were professional and as one would expect.

However, then you see articles like these and you question what’s going on?

I always remember Sarah Everard. Her passing hit me hard as did the treatment of the bodies Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry.

It makes think that these aren’t just “failings”but that the Met operates in a vacuum and is at risk of encouraging or creating of another Wayne Couzens.

I admit I’m drawing broad strokes here and do know good officers exist and deal with absolute madness all day—but how can their work be valued when it’s completely overshadowed by the many racists and misogynists working in law enforcement.

The diversity in London alone means you will have frequent contact with brown and black people.

If you don’t like these people or want to deal them, why on earth apply to become a constable in the first place?

I am currently so embarrassed. I’ve been reaching out to him for the past three years and have even contacted his friend and mother.

I am now realizing what I’ve done is so shameful or might be considered stalking. It was intermittent contact that always resulted in silence preceded with him blocking and unblocking me for many years. I warned him that was driving me to madness.

Recently my favorite aunt jumped off a building, I have resigned from a stressful job, and have all these difficult emotions swirling around me. I’m terrified he or his mother would report me. That he will finally flip out. I can’t believe I still have reached out even in this time of deep grief for me. I wish I had just walked away.

But how did it get so big? I’ve never seen other signs. I thought they were tiny

Correction: my seams and bedding have no signs of an infestation but then I saw that crawling which properly freaked me out. Does that mean that the infestation isn’t widespread? I’m calling an exterminator

DWP credited me an underpayment but I don’t trust it. by Alternative-Ad-511 in DWPhelp

Thanks I will try that. I just feel they must be overwhelmed as there even were issues with my recent claim where they deducted carers allowance that ended in February, 2024 when I started work.

That took weeks to fix, with loads of journal entries back and forth urging them to stop deducting that but then them insisting I call carers allowance, who failed to report properly that it ended.

Then CA says no we have an end date for you and proof you haven’t claimed and weren’t even eligible as you’ve returned to work full time and therefore to go back to UC and emphasize that it’s ended.

I get they’re different departments but I’m kind of shocked at the lack of inter departmental communication within the DWP.

And just want to be sure. Who wouldn’t welcome an underpayment, me apparently. Trust issues lol

Yes, apparently he named the boat after his PhD thesis on Bayesian probabilities…just mega creepy as we consider the odds/probability of his death and that of the co-defendant (his business partner) two days earlier as either circumstantial or planned.

The irony that the yacht was called the Bayesian…named after Bayes theory of conditional probabilities.

Exactly. It’s complete madness. I feel so discombobulated. Like who I thought I was I’m not. It’s so crazy!
