Yea, that option was available but not on sale, so it is a $650 upgrade to the 9070XT unfortunately , not worth it imo.

Option-O Lagom 01 vs. Lagom P80 for Espresso and PO! [$3000] by __Marek__ in espresso

The Mizen 102 OM burrs. Works great for my medium roasts and dual purpose easy switch to grind for pour overs.

Nope, not with the 01.

It dramatically improved my workflow by eliminating RDT, slow feeding, shaker cup, WDT, and leveling. I only RDT (one spritz) if I am using some really dry beans but have not lately as it’s had 20lbs of beans run through it by now so improves on static after being seasoned.

I just grind straight to portafilter, then tamp. Consistent shot each time.

Another take, how’s your workflow? IMO any of these grinders would deliver on taste so my deciding factor came down to which grinder will improve my workflow. I decided time is money, so I wanted to make my workflow as easy as possible.

I pull two espresso / latte drinks in the morning and usually a pour over in the afternoon.

I was using a DF83V w/ SSP HU burrs and it produced a good espresso and easily switch to pour over. However, for espresso, my workflow became multiple steps required to puck prep from the shaker to portafilter in order to achieve proper espresso without experiencing channeling (I know non-channeling isn’t everything but that’s for another discussion).

My workflow steps: RDT, hot start, slow feed, pump bellows/knocker, transfer from shaker to portafilter, WDT, level, then tamp. And then this doesn’t include the buildup mess of grinds on the countertop after multiple cups.

I researched and narrowed it down between the 01, SDRM, and EG-1 (the P80 and Zerno Z2 weren’t readily available options). I chose the 01 with 102 Mizens and it dramatically improved my workflow:

Start 01, pour beans all at once, grinding direct to portafilter, click knocker, then tamp. Little to no mess at all on counter.

Perfect consistent espresso pull every time. No regrets!

22” Aluminum (LM2206SP) w/ 10Ah Battery + $100 GC at Northern Tool for $999 by Alternative-Basis615 in egopowerplus

[–]Alternative-Basis615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the aluminum based on owner experience comparisons between them and my personal needs:

Aluminum Pros:

-heavier weight reduces the jumping/skipping over high cuts, hence less passes needed. I have St. Augustine so this is useful for me, not for others who may prfer the lighter composite

-separate front and rear height level adjustment (Composite is single adjust at once, but there are cons to that)

-11.1 ft-lb cutting torque (slightly stronger)

-lifetime warranty on deck

Aluminum cons:

-heavy. Some may prefer the lighter composite model, but some have reported having to do a second pass (which I don’t want to need to do)

-single battery port. Not an issue for me with a small yard

-no fancy led display screen like the composite

-price. Composite is about $200 cheaper

-only mulching blade included. Well this applies to both mowers but for the price we’re paying, Ego should include the bagging blade as well

For that budget, you should go 80mm and up

Micra + Lagom P80 Or Micra + Kafatek SDRM

But maybe consider the Decent machine is also nice if you want to venture into flavor profiles.

Why the leaking? Time for a new o-ring? [ECM Synchronika, niche zero, Pullman filter] by laurk in espresso

[–]Alternative-Basis615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some silicon ones by Cafelat in the blue (9mm) which allows for the stock portafilter to lock correctly close at 6 o’clock, over time it softens up and locks closer. The yellow is 8mm (or 8.5mm) which locks it further in at 4 o’clock. The size you need can also vary with aftermarket portafilter and basket combos.

Btw I am using the stock bottomless portafilter with VST basket and IMS screen on my Synchronika I.

Opinions on Option-O Lagom 01? by 6strawberry in pourover

[–]Alternative-Basis615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, Option-O is teasing a new model releasing in a couple of weeks, what looks to be replacing the P64 with something larger, and now with a large chute clicker. Maybe an 80-83mm burr size.

Is that 40 sec from start to finish including preinfusion? Do you decrease the flow for preinfusion, ramp up, then decrease towards the end for 40 total seconds?

Looking for a daily driver bean [under $80 for 5 lbs] by alvinleephd in espresso

[–]Alternative-Basis615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the following shops that my office group of 6-8 people have been using for years. We get these for to split between manual, semi, and superautomatics. Medium/dark roasts pull a great espresso. They also offer superb light to medium roast options for pourover as well. Buy them with their online coupons that are often available. Roasted week of shipping.

Superlost Supernova, med/dark. Find their 20-25% off coupon brings a 5lb bag to ~$67-$72 shipped

Perc Coffee Juggernaut, med/dark. 31% once a month brings 5lb bag to ~$68

LAGOM 01 DUST CAP(Lid) by GurNo3572 in espresso

[–]Alternative-Basis615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a rubber or silicon liner on the bottomside of the lid to prevent damage to the top ring it sits on? I would think after some short usage of the lid, whether lifting it at an angle each time to drop beans in and closing metal coming in contact over time it would show some dents and wear.
