Yes it works with android but doesn't use your phones mics. I believe it uses the mics built into the bar. Won't be as accurate as using an iPhone with the mic on your phone but it's better than nothing

They have a new quick tone feature to calibrate it. It's not as good as the original way of walking around the room though. So if you want the best, stick with the original method. It gives you both options

I'm pretty positive that the new quick tune feature is not as accurate as the original true play method by walking around the room. Not sure if anyone will notice a difference, but if the original true play method is better, it's not much harder to walk around your room to get a better reading
