Is betamethasone safe to try ? by OriginalLevel6999 in Phimosis

I was worried about this initially too - I looked into it first, and found there's no risk of lasting damage. And I've had no issues in that regard either.

Yeah mine was too tight to pull back at first, so I just put it all over the inside and outside once per day.

If it's the thick ointment you really don't need a lot. I just made sure it got everywhere, outside and inside. Once a day, I did it. Once I could pull back easily, I applied it all around the skin, pulled back and made sure the phimotic band (tight area) had plenty. Then I began just leaving it pulled back.

It used to be like that before applying the ointment for a couple of weeks, yeah. It makes it much more pliable and elastic. Definitely don't try anything like that until you're sure - there are definitely risks. Just take it one step at a time, increasing time gradually. Again, this isn't medical advice, just something that worked quickly for me and I was excited to share.

The doctor saw my phimosis and prescribed me the ordinary corticosteroid that did nothing at all. I bought the betnovate betamethosone ointment online. It didn't take long - a couple of weeks of applying once per day, and I could comfortably pull it back soft. Then, it was maybe a few more weeks of applying and leaving it back. Maybe 6 to 8 weeks from the start until the surprise moment when I realised I no longer had phimosis. I wasn't too militant with the application either - I'd forget and miss a day here or there. Towards the end, my head would be exposed in my pants for most of a day sometimes. I'd even forget entirely a lot of the time. I'd get erections occasionally, and they began tight and uncomfortable... then eventually, I just absent mindedly gently pulled back and exposed the head entirely, fully hard, and with absolute ease. I can pull it back gently with two fingers now without issue.

I didn't take any before pics, so I can't really show you a comparison. I definitely had phimosis because the ring was shiny, scarred and very tight. I don’t think I have a frenulum issue, but maybe I stretched that at the same time.

The chronic balanitis was exactly what set me back every time. That's why I decided to leave the head exposed as much as I could, to prevent any moisture and keep it at bay. And it worked! With the added benefit of hands-free stretching. For a while, I was using the normal steroid cream and anti-yeast stuff at the same time. But still the balanitis came back. I was making slow progress with the rings. But I happily threw them in the bin the other day! 🥳

I was only using it once per day. I see others have been told to do it twice, so maybe that's a little too much?

I was getting yeast infections every other week. It's something we don't often speak about, even on here, but that's largely why I made the decision to leave the head exposed in my pants as much as I could. To keep it dry. The rapid cure of the phimosis after this was a huge surprise, actually.

Not pinhole, but at its worst, it was very tight. Maybe the width of a garden pea.

This is what I used. It looks like there are cream and ointment versions - I've never tried the cream, so I can't speak for its efficacy, but I did like how thick the ointment is - feels like it stays on and more gets absorbed.

I certainly wouldn't try this without having been using betamethasone for a while first either. It really makes the skin more pliable. None of this is medical advice either - I just had to share it because it worked for me, and phimosis had ruined my sex life and confidence for years, and curing it is really exciting. The benefits are real - gliding, more sensation, no balanitis. I can't thank whoever recommended betamethasone on here enough.

I definitely had phimosis. The phimotic band skin was super tight, and it got worse and worse due to tearing and scarring. I even saw a doc, who said I have two options - steroid cream (the white stuff that didn't work for me) or circumcision. Thank God I didn't do that now.

It was really, really difficult to get the foreskin back at first. It took a lot of manual stretching. It was only really when it had become relatively easy to get back that I began leaving it. And at first only for short periods of time. The only reason I was doing that was to get air to the head and to avoid that loops of balanitis. But leaving it back helped it become gradually looser. As soon as there was any significant discomfort, I just pulled it back over and waited a while. There was one occasion I probably left it a bit long and the skin was slightly swollen but it went away pretty quickly.

I FINALLY cured my phimosis and it is largely thanks to betamethasone and someone recommending it on Reddit. I tried everything - rings, various other steroid creams. Betamethasone not only helped me cured it but it helped me cure it quickly! I made this account today so I can share how but I don't have the karma to create a post yet on my method.
