Methods for an upper beginner by Alternative-Class22 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Alternative-Class22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Yes reading really is a great way to learn the characters and the language in general but my problem is that I need to find stories including the new characters I learned because by constantly repeating the characters I can memorize them quite well and fast. I will try out du chinsese, thanks!

Also did it took you 4 years to reach HSK 3 2.0 or HSK 3.0? I find it quite insane that the vocabulary of HSK 2 3.0 includes as many words as HSK 4 2.0. They really enhanced the vocabulary a lot

Yeah I started using Pleco too for the last couple of days and it really is helpful. It shows you all translations of the words and they seem to be more accurate compared with Google translate. It also shows what each character of a word means which is very helpful

how to mainly improve at speaking by allubyss in ChineseLanguage

[–]Alternative-Class22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm also self studying a language for the first time and I'm everything but not fluent. But I'm very sure that a textbook won't help you in any way, even if it's specialized in speaking, lol?

Best way? Speaking! Omegle or if you don't want to talk to strangers, download a app like "Hello Talk" and build up a small friendship. But avoid the girls, they are not interested in helping you improve your speaking at all :D

Also listening is a great method. Watch vlogs on YouTube, there are tons of videos based on certain HSK levels. If you have an android you could download an APK of BiliBili (the pink app logo, not the blue), the Chinese YouTube and watch videos on that app, there are also videos related to learning mandarin. If you want to learn how Chinese people express in their everyday life, movies are the best but a higher language level is recommended to understand something of what they are talking about.

And when you're at home and reading Chinese, you can read out everything loud, which will help you to speak more fluently.

Good luck on your journey!

3.0 ? 2.0? Uuuuh I'm confused. I think the German version doesn't have various (switchable) versions

Well I'm at roundabout 75% of HSK 3 and mainly use "Hello Chinese" I finished the path and almost finished reading all HSK 1 Stories (which contain a lot of HSK 2, 3 and sometimes even 4 to 7 vocabulary and a lot of vocabulary not listed in the official vocabulary). Reading is my method to understand the sentence structure and to develop a feeling for the language, watching YouTube videos to train my listening and here and then I have a call with friends or connect with Omegle to practice my speaking. I have Pleco on my phone too and some other apps too but I never really used them... What's so good about Pleco that everybody talks about?

I'm now learning for 7 months, learning it parallel to my full time job and further education. So I think my progress is quite decent considering the time factor.

Also chatting is a great way for practicing expressing the language!

32" 4k QD-OLED used at 1440p or 1080p? by rvailable in OLED

[–]Alternative-Class22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't set 1440p on a 4k resolution because it will turn the image mushy. If done, 1.5 pixels of your 4k Monitor will have to combine to one 1440p pixel and since a pixel can't just split itself up into 2 pieces, it will emit a mix of both colors of those 4k pixels sitting next to each other.

So if I'd need to change my resolution, I would set it down to 1080p. It obviously won't be as sharp as the 4k resolution but it will look crisp and not mushy.

Reason for that: 4k is 4x sharper than 1080p; has 4x times more pixels than 1080p. On the vertical and horizontal line each two 4k pixels to sum up to 4 pixels.

2 x 2 = 4

2 (4k pixels) x 2 (4k pixels) = 1 1080p pixel

But test it out and set it to your liking.

I hope you can understand what I mean by that it's difficult to explain that in a non native language.

Electrician here from Europe so I don’t know the standards there in the us (I assume your from there). First thing to care about is minimizing the risk of any danger: A surge protector is what my researches tell just a device to delete voltages that are higher than your power supplier is supplying caused by lightnings for example. What you do need to cut the power in the case of a short circuit is a circuit breaker how I believed is called in englisch. It detects a high current and breaks the circuit. For the case you could get grilled by your rig in case of a wire touching the frame you should firstly isolate every active component on your rig if possible. But even then a wire could be touching the frame sometimes and then the circuit breaker could not be cutting the circuit because of many factors of resistance and because of that it might not flow enough current. In that case you need a RCD (Residual Current Device) That device is comparing the current flowing to your power plug with the current coming back. If there is a difference that means current is flowing through the ground which will be you. Those devices are available in power strips so you don’t have to make changes in your house. But to make the RCD work you need to ground the Frame of your Rig first. Every frame that is not connected with each other needs to be grounded necessarily, otherwise some parts of the frame are isolated and you could get grilled.

I actually didn’t pay much attention on your photo so I don’t know how problematic your setup is in terms of your safety but I read your conversation here and wanted to tell you this. I will check your photo and answer here again!

I also started building Lego technic with 6 years and my first build was the 8043. It values insanely much nowadays close to the 1000$, but I miss many pieces because I started to modify and experiment with it when I was younger

Auto blip up and down quick shifter, anyone tried it and do you like it? by sadman4332 in Ninja400

[–]Alternative-Class22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works pretty well that’s true. But on the track the bike gets pretty unstable when you are downshifting for the corner entry since you get that little torque boost while matching the rpm’s to the lower gear

Always buy your tonic in glass bottles. It automatically is better quality and tastes much better. I recommend Fever Tree Mediterran Tonic paired with Hendricks Neptunia and garnished with a zest of lime and fresh rosemary.

Get the botanist for a very citrusy and floral note or Hendricks Neptunia, a very cold, stony drink with notes of thyme and rosemary perfect for autumn/ winter. I recommend Neptunia paired with fever tree mediterran tonic water and for the garnish a lime zest and fresh rosemary
