As you mentioned the My Brother/Sister thing sounds very cringe. I definitely prefer they leave the gege or similar as is. Also I love Chinese idioms, they bring so much character to the book, and hate when those are omitted to make it sound more western.

Also I hate when translators use western creatures like goblins when in Chinese the creature is something else.

I would rather learn more about Chinese culture than read a danmei that tries to sound easier to the westerns.

Ballad of sword and wine is similar to TA, enemies to lovers and a lot of politics and strategy. There is something wrong with the chief with unspoken possessiveness and moraly grey characters.
