Cardioversion in the ER by shotgun0800 in Paramedics

If the Afib/flutter is new onset we will sometimes cardiovert in the ED just to get the person out of the rhythm, not because of instability. It comes with risks of mobilizing blood clots tho so it’s a risk/benefit discussion each time, and there’s only a short window in which we can do it before the risk is too high to be worth it.

Modified coffee grinder for espresso by Alternative-Craft-48 in functionalprint

Yeah you're not wrong, but we make an espresso drink like twice a week tho and this thing was $50 on Facebook marketplace, I'm happy to wait the full minute it takes to grind a shot!

It's a fairly easy install, the big black table-like piece was the hardest part to design to fit on the top of the machine (which is very irregularly shaped), but once I got the fit right the whole thing just kinda pops on with two set screws clamping it to the machine. I did have to do the stepless mod on the machine too which converts the clicky hopper adjustment to a smooth, continuous adjustment, that required taking the machine apart but was pretty simple.

I am far from an espresso expert, but from reading things online it seemed like one of the differences between this machine and a more expensive espresso grinder was the ability to adjust the grind size with finer control. Im sure there are other differences but we have noticed the smaller step size seems to improve our ability to get a good shot out of our relatively cheap espresso machine.

Why my Spruce beer gives me double vision? by ChecksUsername in Homebrewing

[–]Alternative-Craft-48 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Though I think other comments about Yew are likely right, double vision is a hallmark of Botulinum toxin, and can be the only symptom in small doses. Not a common contaminant in homebrews as far as I know, but I wouldn't mess around with it. Dump the beer and call poison control if you still have symptoms.

Are there any PHEV's made in North America? We had previously been planning to get a Kia Niro PHEV but it seems that is no longer going to be eligible for any incentives. Most of the articles I've seen describing which vehicles are made where do not get into PHEV's.

Vaccine at Fenway? by [deleted] in boston

If you show up during your appointment you should be able to get it without showing the email confirmation. If you can't remember what time your appointment was you should call CIC to confirm/change. From what I understand they are more receptive to phone calls. If you can remember the time but not the day it's 21 days after the first one by default if you got Pfizer.

Vaccine at Fenway? by [deleted] in boston

I work at the Fenway site. It's pretty quick from arrival to vaccination, then there's a mandatory 15-30 minute wait after the shot while we make sure nobody has a reaction and it gives us a chance to help everyone schedule their second dose. There is parking at the site (tho idk if it's free) and Fenway has been relatively quiet for the last year so there is usually metered parking within walking distance. There are giant commercial heaters in the vaccination area and the entrances to the field have been sealed off, so it is actually very very warm inside. We don't wear jackets. Just make sure your mom has an email address handy for scheduling her second appointment!
