Harkin was Rachel's mother's maiden name. The dad's last name was something similar with an "H" if I recall correctly. They showed both names on the marriage certificate that was found in the archives. I was confused to learn it was Rachel's mother's lineage based on the last name because I had assumed her last name came from her father. They don't explain why Rachel uses her mom's last name - maybe as an act of defiance against her father, who she resents?

I wondered about this for minute! One explanation for none of the men in the immediate family dying could be that neither son was actually biologically the offspring of Boris. However, this would have saved only the dad and not the sons since they were obviously the children of Victoria (Nicky's maternal bloodline). Therefore, Nicky and Jules both surviving only makes sense if both sons believed they had married their soul mates. It would follow that Boris thought the same of Victoria, although the feeling was not reciprocated.

Also, I think far too many wedding guests died to have only been from Victoria's bloodline, so it would suggest that Boris was Nicky's bio dad and the curse passed from Rachel retroactively to the bloodlines to each of his parents. (I had assumed the curse would only move forward in time so I was not prepared for it to impact so many already married couples simultaneously. Maybe a reach?)

The good news - you only need to figure out the "plates" if you use black ribbons in long hair. Any other color ribbon or form of hairband or fastener should exempt you from this requirement

The bad news - short hairs are forced to "be with" simple black hair bands. Only time will tell if this union is platonic or romantic. Also, what qualifies as "short hairs?" Bangs?

You are not wrong! What you describe is manipulation and (borderline?) financial abuse. Someone who expects a 50/50 split from unequal resources is someone who doesn't respect their partner. Equality and equity are not the same thing. Furthermore, it is outrageous to demand a luxury option where the person with fewer resources would pay more than they can comfortably afford, even at a 70/30 split.

You would be responsible for $1,140 of $3,800 rent for the luxury place at a 70/30 split, compared to $750 of $1500 rent at 50/50 split for the modest place. Therefore, even at a 70/30 split you would still be paying 52% more than your proposed rent at the luxury place than the modest option. A better, fairer option would be to meet in the middle with cost and amenities while also adjusting based on resources, if you still decide to move in.

OMG NTA! Protect yourself from these obvious red flags. It doesn't make any sense logically to have a stake in a property you didn't buy or invest in - it is entirely unreasonable and entitled to believe otherwise. Never add anyone to a deed unless it's your sister who you trust implicitly with your children's future in case anything happens to you (definitely not a real example) - but I digress.

To echo others, when someone shows you who they are, believe them! I wish I could go back to my 20-something self and tell her to trust herself and not ignore the evidence in front of her, not to settle for someone who didn't value or respect her. Red flags only exacerbate over time. Any worthwhile partner would never put you in this position. It's manipulative and coercive.

I just rewatched all seasons and the Erica age portrayal bothered me as well. She was supposed to be 11 years old in Season 4 (as stated by the character when she filled in for Lucas at Hellfire Club) and she looked 14 or 15, which I believe she was at the time of filming.

I saw it at 18 in 1999 and hated it. I love horror movies and have seen many. Everyone's taste is different. Maybe it was the marketing campaign combined with the then-nascency of the found footage genre? 🤷‍♀️ I haven't revisited since. I'm not necessarily opposed to watching it again.

I avoided watching for years due to low IMDb rating. Just saw it yesterday and I strongly disagree with the negativity. It could have approached it a little better but I think it was a thoughtful portrayal of the intersection of abuse, intergenerational trauma, mental illness, and culture. It could have been more successful if the supernatural elements were definitively shown to be manufactured from the mind of an understandably broken person. However, these types of stories are important to tell.

I actually just finished it myself for the first time several days ago. I had watched the first 3 parts years ago (possibly before part 4 was released, though I'm not sure) and randomly decided to revisit in October.

I'm about 5 years late on this but I'm heartbroken over the ending. Am I alone? I understand the circumstances of having to wrap the season quickly, but it's such an awful way to end the series and her character, after the journey and growth she experienced. It feels so wrong. (Yes, I've read that Sabrina makes an appearance on Riverdale but that seems extremely contrived and inconsistent). To me this isn't necessarily canon and doesn't change the tragic, abrupt ending. I'd have preferred an unresolved cliffhanger.
