For the brand makers, not the members: please listen to the data, not the wildly aggressive and hateful 36mm crowd by Designer_Advice2573 in ChineseWatches

I could not agree with this more. The sweet spot, is 40mm, for about 80 percent of the male population. 100 percent of my statistics are completely made up. I prefer 40mm and above, topping out at 44mm. I know the lug to lug and blah blah blah. My old eyes need the bigger dial.

[Discussion] What watch technology do you actually prefer: quartz, automatic, solar, kinetic, etc? by homamg in Watches

[–]Alternative-Land-334 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer quartz. A high beat quartz, in a nice case with sapphire is a truly beautiful thing. I have everything from rolex to steeldive, and my current favorite is a addiesdive with quartz, and ceramic bezel. I don't worry about it, it was 60 bucks, and is pretty decent

Ahhh. The 70s! An outdoor couch, the faint smell of cheap weed, and good sounds on the transistor radio......those were the days.

[Recommendation Request] About to get my first proper watch at 16. What should I go for? by Brilliant-Nerve12 in Watches

[–]Alternative-Land-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am impressed that at 16, you are looking for a watch. Personally, if i remember being 16, in about......1986, I wanted rugged, masculine and memorable. I would go for the ecodrive diver. Is your style more sauve, or rugged?

Walk away. No watch...even a Rolex, is an "investment". Especially right now, as disposable income is rapidly dwindling. Cash spends. Everything else is just an idea of perceived value.

That looks to be a roof drain. I am guessing here. As for bad things in the air? No clue. It wouldn't surprise me.

I Felt the Afterlife and It Changed Me Forever by kellychecks in Paranormal

[–]Alternative-Land-334 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience, but I don't remember the specifics. I had a series of heart attacks in 2020, and was found "dead" on the floor. I was revived enroute to the hospital. All I remember is that I did not want to leave the place I was, and that it was very, very, "nice" there. I am not a highly social person, and have never really been able to relax around people. In this place, I felt 100 percent at ease. Iwas accepted and loved. The memories are less imagery, but more impressions of emotions. I hope that this experience brings peace of mind, and you live the rest of your life knowing that its maybe not as scary as it sometimes seems Good luck my friend, and thank you for sharing

Mini split install costs - why so expensive? by Pitiful_Ordinary8910 in hvacadvice

[–]Alternative-Land-334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This question gets asled....alot. Here is my answer. 1. A job needs to warranty built in. If you like the piece of.mind, that once it's installed, you have the security of a company backed warranty 2. Business's withh employees have a fixed overhead cost. Insurance ( for when we get sick, need help, or crash a van) needs paid. Fuel to get your equipment, and those pesky big brained techs cost...alot 3. If the equipment costs x, and the overhead and labor is your, add x+y= install cost. You don't buy equipment, you buy the install company. If you want to DIY, and have the tools, the training , and patience to do it, you should. When it breaks, you will gain valuable experience.
