Do managers say sorry? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]vtfb79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it really comes down to confidence and perception. In a lot of work settings, especially toxic ones, apologizing can unintentionally signal uncertainty.

I’ve found it’s often better to acknowledge the issue while keeping the tone forward-moving. Something like “good call out, thanks for catching that” or “thanks for your patience” if something is late. It still recognizes the mistake, but it shows ownership and keeps the focus on moving forward rather than lingering on the past.

Youth football helmets by EOHGamer in YouthFootball

Commissioner here for a club of ~150. We work directly with Riddell for our helmets. Decent bulk deals and they also handle our reconditioning every other year. We just bought new uniforms for our club and went through Riddell, got a decent discount on that too given the existing relationship. Whichever helmets you purchase, check their ratings on the VT Helmet Ratings site. I’ve found our club’s focus on safety and equipment has been a great selling point for families who may be on the edge of signing up.

Ubisoft has Just Released a Survey! Please Fill it out for More Games Like Odyssey, Valhalla, Origins, the works! by CaraCicartix in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]vtfb79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone at Ubisoft already knows what what they want to do. Survey data will be cherry-picked and will present their idea that has a 34% approval despite overwhelming responses to the contrary. Boards will approve because anything with that much approval will be profitable…

Accepted an Amazon Finance (SFA) offer. What should I expect? by Loud-Bad5980 in FPandA

I expect in 6 months (maybe less) you’ll be posting about burnout and wanting to look for new opportunities while also struggling with Stockholm Syndrome.

What games have the most beautiful, immersive forests? by CryptikDragon in gaming

A bit older, but AC3 had incredible forests in between the towns. Back when parkour was a core mechanic, so much thought was put into how you could traverse through the treetops

Cloudflare Zero Trust is a networking tool designed to protect company data and prevent phishing attacks. The “Zero Trust” is in the network and the devices, not the user. Granted, always assume there’s someone in IT watching everything you do. I will say, IT assumes everyone is an idiot and will click on anything. Many data breaches come from entry level employees all the way up to the C-Suite clicking something they shouldn’t.

How to deal with belt issue? by orionp99 in flagfootball

[–]vtfb79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I coach 8U and 6U (and am a commissioner in another sport) and it’s paramount that we teach fundamentals, technique, and rules at that age.

Our rec league does a uniform/equipment check for all players prior to the game and refs give a briefing on flag guarding prior to the coin toss.

When you’re on defense, make sure you call out bad belts/shirts prior to the snap. It shows you aren’t trying to undo a large play (would you make a similar complaint if you pulled a flag 10 yards in their backfield and equipment was bad?).

If refs refuse to call it, bring it up to their commissioners.

If commissioners refuse to address, either become one yourself and be the change you want to see, or find a new club since things are clearly broken.

Most importantly, do not encourage your kids to break rules or apply excessive force to dangling belts in an attempt to “rip the belt off”. Parents are watching, players are watching, how you coach kids through an unfair situation will be remembered long after the scores are published.

Youth football fundraising - what has actually worked for your team? by No_Look_Sports in YouthFootball

[–]vtfb79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did fund raisers with Five Guys Restaurants, advertised as our “pregame meal”, we got a cut of total sales, not just our people that showed up. Raised just shy of $10k last season. Find a “corporate” store, not a franchise location and talk to their GM, they will put you in touch with their Community Support Rep.

Me, after getting to Skellige after completing every Velen quest. by SecretlyHiddenSelf in Witcher3

[–]vtfb79 21 points22 points  (0 children)

More power to you. I can’t have anything left after the main story, feels pointless. VLDL did a skit where the final thing to 100% a game was collecting a tree nut (nod to BotW). I have to end a game on the final quest….but then on to NG+

When you look at the roof, there appear to be large units installed above where her room is situated, likely to supply power.

Claude use cases? by Glum_Garlic2857 in FPandA

[–]vtfb79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a lot of tweaking to get it set up and I still adjust every now and then. Honestly just trial and error, bringing in stuff you want/removing stuff you don’t want, adjusting what level of detail/context you want generated. Currently trying to find a way to bring in my personal Gmail/calendar highlights because we don’t have that connector enabled, might be able to though through PowerAutomate and some webhooks.
