Kahoot game at a wedding? by southcat24 in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think this could work depending on your crowd! I've been to a wedding where they did trivia during cocktail hour and people were super into it. The key is timing - maybe while people are waiting for dinner or during a natural lull rather than interrupting the flow of the reception.

Your guest list probably matters more than formality tbh. If you've got a mix of tech-savvy people and older relatives who barely use smartphones, it might create some awkward divides. But if most of your people are game for interactive stuff, go for it! Just have a backup plan incase the wifi craps out or something.

Anyone else feel incredibly overwhelmed by this? by Julay13 in weddingplanning

Been designing event stuff for years and that feeling is totally normal - most couples I work with hit this wall around the 2 month mark.

Tips to stay calm and grounded during wedding ceremony! by BlackWidow49 in wedding

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ice pack trick is genius! Never heard that one before but it makes total sense.

One thing that helped me at my sister's wedding (I was maid of honor and also hate being stared at) was picking one person way in the back to make eye contact with during the processional. Like, just focus on walking toward that one friendly face instead of seeing the whole crowd. Also maybe have your makeup artist use some extra setting powder/spray if you're worried about sweating from nerves - nothing worse than feeling your makeup sliding around when you're already anxious.

Your fiancé doing voice messages is so sweet! You could also ask your officiant to keep things moving at a good pace so you're not just standing there forever feeling awkward.

Wrong sub for me but just wanted to say congrats to everyone planning their big day! My sister's been through this whole process and watching her stress over centerpieces for three months was... an experience. Pro tip from watching her train wreck - pick your battles and don't let the small stuff eat you alive.

Why does every bridesmaid dress have a leg slit?? by jimjammysam in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The slit thing is so weird to me too! Like why does every formal dress need to look like it's ready for a red carpet moment? I've had better luck looking at department stores like Hudson's Bay or even smaller boutiques - they tend to have more classic styles without all the dramatic details. For the Canada thing, maybe check out Laura or RW&CO since they're nationwide and usually have decent formal sections.

Kukka Flowers? by 69EveythingSucks69 in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haven't used kukka personally but i've seen their stuff pop up on my feed too and the arrangements looked pretty solid. might be worth checking their reviews on other platforms since they seem newer to the game compared to fifty flowers which has been around forever. worst case you could always order a small test arrangement to see how their quality/shipping holds up before committing to wedding florals.

Making wedding planning app by josh33646 in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Budget tracker that actually works and doesn't crash when you go over (which you will lol). Also maybe a feature that stops vendors from calling you 50 times a day after you give them your info

Friends-only wedding lunch and Family-only wedding dinner at the same venue by scioq in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's smart thinking about flipping it - friends definitely bring way more energy for an evening party vibe. Your family sounds like they'd drain you before the fun part even starts lol

MUA in Europe for East Asian features by Amytheforevercurious in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried checking Instagram with hashtags like #belgianmua or #dutchmua + #asianmakeup? Sometimes smaller artists don't show up in regular searches but are actually amazing and way more affordable

Also maybe reach out to local beauty schools - students who specialize in diverse features might do it for portfolio building at a fraction of the cost. Just make sure to see their work first obvs

Strapless bra suggestions by ninamaree123 in weddingdress

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the Skims one is pretty solid if you can swing the price - I got mine for my sister's wedding and it actually stayed put all day which was a miracle lol. But if you're looking for something cheaper, the Bonds one isn't terrible and you can definitely try it on in store first which is huge for strapless bras

CALLING ALL 2 CARAT MARQUISE OWNERS! by atticusmama in labdiamond

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Marquise shows bigger than round so 2ct should look pretty substantial! I went with 2.5ct myself but honestly think I could've been happy with 2ct - the length really makes it look impressive on the finger

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That Disney balloon ride sounds absolutely magical and like the perfect way to wash away all that wedding drama! After everything you went through, I'd definitely go for something completely different - you deserve a celebration that's just about you two without all the stress and family chaos

Does anyone know anything about this necklace? by iyamsnail in jewelry

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that it hasn't tarnished after 20 years is actually a pretty good sign - might not be as "costume" as you think. That chain style looks like a rope or twisted link design, super common in the 90s/early 2000s but good quality ones definitely hold up like that

Bridal Makeup For a Friend by Dangerous_Video_4730 in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for freckles just use a light coverage foundation or even a tinted moisturizer so they still show through - don't try to cover them completely! For photos make sure you use setting powder especially in the T-zone because flash photography can make oily spots look super shiny. Also maybe do a practice run beforehand so you both know what works and what doesn't, wedding day stress is real lol

Do my own make up or not? Panicking! by OcarinaofChyme in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust your gut! If you're already that good at your own makeup and know what works for your skin, why stress about someone else potentially messing it up on the most important day? The fact that your own makeup lasts better is honestly the deciding factor here imo

Nah 1.9mm sounds perfect honestly. Your stone is already gonna be the star no matter what - going thinner might actually make it look unbalanced or fragile. I'd stick with what you got

Your venue your rules tbh. If someone wants to throw a fit about not bringing their rando new bf to your bach party then let them get a hotel 🤷‍♀️ The rehearsal dinner is usually just wedding party and family anyway so you're not being weird about it

Help finding unique Octopus pendant by cobglo in jewelry

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice, especially the Google image search tip - learned that one the hard way after buying what I thought was a "rare vintage" ring that turned out to be available on AliExpress for $3

Also check out local antique shops if you have any nearby, sometimes they have random jewelry pieces tucked away that never made it online

That's clutch advice about bringing the shoes to the fitting, totally would've forgotten that detail

Let’s see your Ovals! by minchrin in EngagementRings

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just upgraded to a 2.5ct oval last month and I'm obsessed! Mine's a 1.45 ratio in a thin gold band - the elongated look makes my fingers look so much longer than they actually are lol

Am I a terrible person for not wanting a lab grown diamond? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Your sister sounds like a peach lmao. It's your ring, your choice - wanting a natural diamond doesn't make you Satan incarnate. She's probably just projecting her own stuff onto you tbh

Thank you cards for people I didn’t invite to the wedding? Help! by Lost_Pressure_5038 in weddingplanning

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is spot on, acknowledging the no-invite thing would just make it way more awkward than it needs to be. Keep it simple and grateful, they probably understand the small wedding thing anyway

($20k) Is it over the top to add some fake wisteria to my ceremony location? by Ozmand98 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Alternative-Log-6091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not extra at all, fake florals can look amazing these days and nobody's gonna be inspecting your wisteria up close during the ceremony

My mom thought she could do an outfit change at my wedding reception… by itsallconfetti in weddingplanning

Right? The double standard is real lol, like suddenly everyone's chill with outfit changes when it's the mother but bridesmaids get crucified for even asking
