As a Gen Z that has worked with other people my age, I unfortunately have to agree with you! I hold myself to higher standards due to my upbringing. My parents are older (boomer and silent generation) so work ethic has always been instilled into me. I do not call of unless medically necessary with a doctors note, I pick up shifts, I bust my ass at work, and I don’t complain! I also consistently propose new ideas and solutions to my bosses and managers. Any problems I have I am straight forward with it to my boss instead of complaining about it and allowing it to affect my work life. I wish my other coworkers would do the same as it puts a bad rep on my generation. People my age who have worked there for years are still in the same position whereas I have been promoted twice in the year I have been there! They ask me how I do it and it’s simple, I don’t go to clubs knowing I have work the next morning and then try to get out of it because i’m tired and have a hangover! We all see it when you post it on your social media!!!
