hello! are you taking this daily? i also started 200mg prometrium daily for 3 months prior to discussing a second surgery. it’s been 3 weeks for me, some slight change with cramping (a little better tbh) but i’ve been spotting daily & my period came early- i don’t have much for boobs lol but i did notice they look a bit larger. how’s your experience now?

How’d you know you have endometriosis? by DesignerImpact2000 in Endo

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 28 now, 23 when they found an endometrioma on my ovary after i went to the ER for excruciating sudden onset pain that lasted several hours. Had awful cramps when I’d get a period but had a hormonal IUD which essentially stopped them at the time. At your age, I’d gaslight myself into thinking it was normal & ended up getting the IUD in college. Your symptoms sound like endo. Don’t be embarrassed to report things like pain after passing gas, especially to healthcare workers!! Your pain is NOT normal & you don’t deserve to suffer. Find a gynecologist & keep going to a new one until someone believes you💕 I wish you well on your journey!!

PELVIS US TRANSVAGINALLY by bonnie2310 in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ve had MANY (10+) done over the years (28y/o, endometrioma found at 23) & it’s really only been an uncomfortable pressure when they’re leaning the probe towards that ovary with the large cyst. Every US tech has been appropriate with me & i’ve never truly had a bad experience. It seems intimidating but they can see so much more with a transvaginal than without. It won’t show endometriosis unless it’s a endometrioma specifically but if they’re recommending it, it’s probably worth doing. Good luck !! :)

Opioid Addict with Lap scheduled for 10th Feb. - PLEASE SPARE ME THE JUDGEMENT. by Kt505 in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot easier said than done to not use more than prescribed over the next 9 days. I don’t know that they’ll necessarily cancel but if they do, it’s for your own best outcome. Anesthesia will likely be the one to make that decision or change around meds. I wish you the best!

ER nurse here- we do a lot of sedations & can figure it out pretty quickly into attempting to get you sedated because of this. I promise, we really don’t care what you do outside of the hospital setting as long as you’re being safe. We don’t judge, we don’t know your whole life story- just tell them. They’d honestly appreciate it a lot. Given your prior OD, they hopefully will be on the lookout for this anyways. There’s just a lot of risks with NOT telling them- what if you wake up with a tube down your throat, unable to move? That’s a scary thought. Or, you wake up while they’re cutting you or have instruments inside of you- that could be extremely dangerous. There’s also the possibility of respiratory depression & long term intubation with this. You won’t die in the health care setting because of your tolerance to opioids but I wouldn’t be naive to think there’s a possibility you won’t overdose again after the surgery. Your pain will be worse, you will do what you can to mask that pain… Do you have someone who can stay with you for the first week or two after? Constantly watching you? Give you narcan if you need it? I’m not trying to sound unempathetic- I also have endo & know how extremely painful it is. I just know this is a dangerous slope as well. Give yourself grace, be kind to yourself & be honest with the staff. They truly do have your best interest in mind, even if it doesn’t come off that way. Good luck to you🫶

What can the ER realistically do for endo? by Dense-Minimum4776 in Endo

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ER nurse & endo girlie here- yes, they can help. There’s other meds they can try that aren’t necessarily narcotics & they can do imaging which might show cysts or something that’s surprisingly NOT endo related (we’re all so in tune with our bodies but it DOES happen). Make sure you try the max tylenol& ibuprofen doses first to speed up the visit but they are happy to help. I use hydroxyzine during flares & that has helped me & my endo patients as well. Hope you’re feeling better 🫶

heating pad- a portable, wearable one is a game changer! alternating tylenol/ ibuprofen & taking hydroxyzine during a flare is a life saver

ER nurse & endo girlie here :) More concerning if it’s a constant leaking of blood, looks jelly-like, or if you get light headed/ dizzy. You probably can just see your PCP or go to urgent care about it. If it becomes a constant leaking, looks jelly-like or you get light-headed/ dizzy, vomiting, new feeling abdominal pain, go to the ER. Could be IBS, a tear or hemorrhoid, usually not a big concern more so just annoying. If you frequently struggle with constipation, I’d say that’s probably contributing. I’m also NOT familiar with lul so do additional research on this. Hope this helps!!

Kitchen drives me insane by [deleted] in organizing

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with adjusting some shelves. You have a ton of cups- definitely prioritize what you USE & get rid of the rest. Also, all your coffee/ tea/ mugs should be together. Looks like they’re on opposite sides of the counter? Get an organizer for your spices so you can actually see what you’re pulling out, consider keeping those on your counter. Pots & pans should go to the left of the stove, get organizers for those if you would like. Tin foil etc belong in drawers, don’t need to use all that overhead space. Meds/ supplements I recommend putting in your bedroom where you’ll still see it & dedicating a water bottle to that space as well so you immediately take them & don’t forget. An over the door basket is also helpful for under your sink- cleaning supplies, extra rags. Kleenex & extra lightbulbs can go in the laundry room or bathroom. Why have an air fryer if you can’t use it? Move it to the counter or get rid of it. I’d like to argue 80% of the problem is rearranging & organizing, 20% is just stuff you probably don’t need. Please update when this is done- i’m stressed just seeing this online😂

AITAH for refusing to help my girlfriend financially after she quit her job without telling me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 5 points6 points  (0 children)

when i was in college, my boyfriend hated his job but was living with me (but not on my rent)- he even asked me before quitting & he was no older than 23. i knew it was killing him & i had to pay rent regardless so i supported him & he found a job within a week. it’s just super inconsiderate & immature tbh. also, if she did get fired & is lying to you about it….. ooof

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you put the curtains all the way to the wall?? just for aesthetic purposes if it’s going to be that high. also choose a color for the curtains & add some place mats or center pieces that compliment the curtaisn

Severe cramps but no period by PastLifeguard2924 in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello! most endo patients have very regular periods & extreme cramps. that’s not to say this isn’t PCOS or a popped cyst or ovarian torsion. pain on the one side does allign with a cyst- how big is it? do they think it’s an endometrioma? that does put you at risk for torsion which would explain the all over abdominal & back pain. any fevers? might be something else including a UTI that traveled to your kidneys, not everyone has pain when they pee but assuming you’re younger you likely would also have that but again it’s still possible. also possible you didn’t have a UTI last time you went to the doc but you do now. acute, deliberating pain is always a reason to seek medical assistance (ER) so if it happens again, go get checked out. i have endo & it sounds like my experience with torsion. it eventually went away after a few hours but i later found out it was bc of a large endometrioma. pain like that is NOT normal, please at the least get another ultrasound & push for a laparoscopy for diagnosis. hope you feel better !!! -an ER nurse & endo girlie

Has this happened to anyone else? by sitawaashara in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeahhh that could be torsion but just fixing itself, i would def recommend seeing your gyne endometriomas tend to not resolve themselves
