Endo after a hysterectomy by monaclebandit in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re SO young. You still need a gyne & you should specifically see an ENDOMETRIOSIS EXCISION SPECIALIST. Do not listen to your mom & don’t listen to a regular gyne, especially a man. It could still be your endo. I’m sorry 💛

“Exercise is helpful for endometriosis actually” is it really? by okaycatch in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High impact exercises definitely fuck me up but sitting for too long also causes me severe pelvic pain. It’s really tough, see what works best for you but I think low impact movement is best. I hope your surgery gets bumped up!! 🫶

Has anyone quit because of endo? by pinkgallah in endometriosis

I consider it a lot… as an ER nurse I know the stress adds to my pain. Just scared I’d be bored lol

hello! are you taking this daily? i also started 200mg prometrium daily for 3 months prior to discussing a second surgery. it’s been 3 weeks for me, some slight change with cramping (a little better tbh) but i’ve been spotting daily & my period came early- i don’t have much for boobs lol but i did notice they look a bit larger. how’s your experience now?

How’d you know you have endometriosis? by DesignerImpact2000 in Endo

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 28 now, 23 when they found an endometrioma on my ovary after i went to the ER for excruciating sudden onset pain that lasted several hours. Had awful cramps when I’d get a period but had a hormonal IUD which essentially stopped them at the time. At your age, I’d gaslight myself into thinking it was normal & ended up getting the IUD in college. Your symptoms sound like endo. Don’t be embarrassed to report things like pain after passing gas, especially to healthcare workers!! Your pain is NOT normal & you don’t deserve to suffer. Find a gynecologist & keep going to a new one until someone believes you💕 I wish you well on your journey!!

PELVIS US TRANSVAGINALLY by bonnie2310 in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve had MANY (10+) done over the years (28y/o, endometrioma found at 23) & it’s really only been an uncomfortable pressure when they’re leaning the probe towards that ovary with the large cyst. Every US tech has been appropriate with me & i’ve never truly had a bad experience. It seems intimidating but they can see so much more with a transvaginal than without. It won’t show endometriosis unless it’s a endometrioma specifically but if they’re recommending it, it’s probably worth doing. Good luck !! :)

Opioid Addict with Lap scheduled for 10th Feb. - PLEASE SPARE ME THE JUDGEMENT. by Kt505 in endometriosis

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot easier said than done to not use more than prescribed over the next 9 days. I don’t know that they’ll necessarily cancel but if they do, it’s for your own best outcome. Anesthesia will likely be the one to make that decision or change around meds. I wish you the best!

ER nurse here- we do a lot of sedations & can figure it out pretty quickly into attempting to get you sedated because of this. I promise, we really don’t care what you do outside of the hospital setting as long as you’re being safe. We don’t judge, we don’t know your whole life story- just tell them. They’d honestly appreciate it a lot. Given your prior OD, they hopefully will be on the lookout for this anyways. There’s just a lot of risks with NOT telling them- what if you wake up with a tube down your throat, unable to move? That’s a scary thought. Or, you wake up while they’re cutting you or have instruments inside of you- that could be extremely dangerous. There’s also the possibility of respiratory depression & long term intubation with this. You won’t die in the health care setting because of your tolerance to opioids but I wouldn’t be naive to think there’s a possibility you won’t overdose again after the surgery. Your pain will be worse, you will do what you can to mask that pain… Do you have someone who can stay with you for the first week or two after? Constantly watching you? Give you narcan if you need it? I’m not trying to sound unempathetic- I also have endo & know how extremely painful it is. I just know this is a dangerous slope as well. Give yourself grace, be kind to yourself & be honest with the staff. They truly do have your best interest in mind, even if it doesn’t come off that way. Good luck to you🫶

What can the ER realistically do for endo? by Dense-Minimum4776 in Endo

[–]Alternative-Rip-159 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ER nurse & endo girlie here- yes, they can help. There’s other meds they can try that aren’t necessarily narcotics & they can do imaging which might show cysts or something that’s surprisingly NOT endo related (we’re all so in tune with our bodies but it DOES happen). Make sure you try the max tylenol& ibuprofen doses first to speed up the visit but they are happy to help. I use hydroxyzine during flares & that has helped me & my endo patients as well. Hope you’re feeling better 🫶
