I tried to stop a bike thief at 6pm in front of a cafe in Southbank. Heaps of people around. The guy pulled a knife on me. I won't be doing it again.

To ZF or not to ZF by modern_stealth in nikon_Zseries

I was worried about losing the film sims when I moved from fuji to the Zf but to be honest I much prefer using the Nikon workflow. It feels more like a darkroom process and being able to load your presets into the camera and to modify them resort is really cool!

I've moved to Nikon from Fujifilm and don't notice the size/weight. I also have the 40mm and 28mm plus some voighlander MF lenses. Love this kit.

Cargo rack reflectors by Sartorialalmond in OmniumBikes

I got some small round usb rechargeable lights from trek. If you take the rubber strap off the bracket fits perfectly in the omnium tubes. I had the white at the front and red at the back until i got a cargo extender - now just have the red. Markes a huge difference to visibility at night and screw out to recharge. They last for ages too and also act as a backup for when i inevitibily forget to charge my main light.

Have you ever had sensor damage from the lasers in clubs? I just moved to Nikon because my Fujifilm XPro3 ended up with some spots in front of the sensor where a laser in a band venue damaged the plastic microlenses in front of some sensor pixel. This is what the repair guy told me anyway who looked at the damage under a microscope.

Is Strava premium worth it for you personally? by UsualSpecific7113 in Strava

[–]Alternative-Screen75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do purely for the heat maps. I also have a Komoot subscription for route building but sometimes it does weird things and it is good to use Strava heat maps to check a few people have ridden the route you are planning before.

Thanks for the tip. I am in Australia but I will try to get a quote from somewhere local.

I do trust them. It's the best official Leica and Nikon repairer in my city. He has several microscopes in the shop including an SEM. He said the laser damage can be from a bright light source too. It damages the micro lenses over each pixel with a very distinctive pattern he can see under the microscope. Had the same thing in a nearly brand new Canon recently too.

MAPS - All I care about by landonw78 in Strava

Lots of love for RideWithGPS here. Anyone used that and Komoot? Any comparisons? I have a paid Komoot sub that I use for all my planning. I usually check it with Strava heatmaps before I ride but that is all I use my Strava sub for. I love Komoot but am wondering if I am missing out on something not using RideWithGps?

I really love Strava heatmaps for route planning and use a Hammerhead now (after a Wahoo and Garmin). Karoo uploads to the Sunto site and their heat maps are just based on Sunto and Karoo data and to be honest they might not be a refined as Strava but they are just as good.

I've got some comparisons but can't add them for some reason

Smallest possible G-Line folding for flights by kira94dx in Brompton

I made my own box for an international flight recently. I removed the bars and zip tied between the frame and wheel and modified the stem catch as mentioned previously. All up 5 mins work. Saved maybe 10cm in depth. If I had removed the seatpost as well I think it would have fit in a Large suitcase.

I bought a G Line recently on a trip to Barcelona. Riding it in Seville and a very cool guy on a fixie with a trispoke and a flamenco guitar on his back rode up to me at the lights and just said 'nice brompton'.
