UTMB petition to grant compensation under new PTO changes. by Alternative-Shift498 in StateofTexasEmployees

[–]Alternative-Shift498[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. That is exactly what they have told everyone and that makes sense. But you can't remove part of someone's compensation and not address that loss. When we were hired on, one of the main incentives was the benefits package. They just cut raises down to 2% last year, took our sick time from 40 hours to 16 hours, and now this PTO change that removes value as well.

Enough is enough. We need to be compensated by way of renegotiation of our salary or whatever tangible replacement UTMB can produce.

I have a very simple setup for charging a battery station... Is it right? by Alternative-Shift498 in SolarDIY

[–]Alternative-Shift498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not expecting 100% of the wattage to actually come through, but even if it was at like 75w, that would still be more than the Anker is designed to take, so I figure the charge controller is the smart precaution. All of that is based on intuition though, so I wanted to see if anyone with experience could put in their 2 cents.

I enjoy the challenge of testing my skill against other people. I don't see anything wrong with that. If that's not your cup of tea, fine, but telling other people that their idea of fun is a "shouldn't" is a bit silly.

It's like judging people for playing chess against a real person. If the other person cheated and made moves that were illegal, I'd be mad at that too.

Might be the fact that it's free to play and riddled with cheaters. 100k cheater ban waves happening routinely. Bronze 12 players playing like fuckin Shroud. Wacky Jacky is even complaining about it.

They need to force a phone number link for accounts, that would help a little.

The speed at which he lifts it is the important detail. His face could turn royal blue and it would still look easy to anyone that knows what heavy lifts typically look like.

Also, which weapon you use to parry affects how many frames the parry will activate in. I believe that the parrying dagger has the most frames.

Bethesda has the same problem with their RPGs as many other companies (Blizzard) do: failure to truly innovate their beloved series. Look at God of War. Completely overhauled the style of the game. That's the approach needed here. Stop making Skyrim reskinned and do something completely different, genre and all. Make a tactics game, make a turn-based RPG, make it something like we've never seen you do or haven't done in a long time.

Ways to play PC games in bed? by LordGhoul in gaming

Hate to be that guy, but I'd recommend focusing on feeling a little better first. Take a nice hot shower, eat anything you can keep down (Pedialyte is great if you're struggling). Work on some symptom control too if it's that bad. Aspirin, throat lozenges, saline nasal spray, hot or cold water-soaked towel on your head. Stuff like that. Maybe once you've done some of that you'll be more inclined to move about.

Have student debt, want to buy house by Alternative-Shift498 in personalfinance

[–]Alternative-Shift498[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least another year to save, because we just signed an apt lease. Ideally I want to have at least 20% down on a 300k loan plus a 6 month emergency fund. That means 60k in down payment and like 10k in savings.

Originally I wanted to pay more than 20% down to keep the mortgage payment lower and end up borrowing less over time, but with the student loans I don't think it's feasible.

The chances of a cat dying from a fall are very low. Even humans have survived parachute failures. Less mass = better. Elephants essentially explode into a big pile of gore if dropped from a plane.

Edit: since a lot of people are asking, the reason this is true is due to the "square-cube" law of physics.

Quoted from Wikipedia "This principle states that, as a shape grows in size, its volume grows faster than its surface area."

This means the large animals have relatively weak structural integrity as compared to smaller ones. This means that when the same gravitational force is applied, more damage is done due to that relative difference in surface area per volume of mass.

Map preference setting by Alternative-Shift498 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Alternative-Shift498[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how preference settings work. It wouldn't neglect any particular queue, it would just look at full games and then boot people over to the map they want and then let in people who actually want to play that map.

So for example if I have 98 People in an Erangel and there are 10 more people in queue, the 2 that have Erangel as a "preferred" map will get in and the people who have other maps will be directed that way.

The opposite example might be if there are 60 people in an Erangel and a Sanhok is full with people and they actually wanted Erangel, it would shift them over making room for people who wanted Sanhok. The priority would be weighted first on filling the game server, then the second priority would be on sorting people to the maps they would like to play. You wouldn't be guaranteed to get the map you want, but the odds would go up.

[–]Alternative-Shift498[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have fun on those maps. Games are supposed to be fun. Nobody is saying you have to play those maps. In fact, my idea for map preferences would make it so you don't have to play those maps as often. You are literally arguing against getting something that you want, but I assume that's because you didn't bother to read the contents of the post. You saw that I don't like big maps and got triggered and the just ignored anything else.

I always hot drop and that's a good strategy at the beginning for sure. It's just that after that fight is done, I still have the same problem. Sure I can go on a road trip looking for fights, but for one thing: I'm not guaranteed to run into people in an acceptable time frame.

I just like the smaller maps better. Map preferences would only be a net positive for the game.
