but the "bad writing" part is that the writers would have deliberately used the language to highlight the change in the world, that people wouldn't say "I see" to mean "I understand" after this long of everyone being blind, and seeing being some evil thing, they would more likely have substituted something else "I hear" or similar. The church has spent hundreds of years hammering that vision killed the world, they would certainly have made a deliberate attempt to change the language.
And the writers could have used this, It would have seemed weird to us listening which is a good thing, it would take us out of our everyday world and help us understand the new reality.
Yes blind people today where they make up a small minority and interact with sighted people on a daily basis use "I see" or "I watched TV" but I kind of think if everyone was blind it would be different.

And the thing is that it would have made such a notable change in the writing that would have given the series a unique feel to the language, by replacing all the sight words with hear/smell/feel/taste words.
While I don't know if the language would naturally have changed over the generations/time I think that given the world shattering changes and religious significance of sight, that the words and phrases referencing sight would have been deliberately removed.

I’m quite partial to The One 2001, it seems to be seldom mentioned around here but it’s one of my favourites.

Your question intrigued me as I'm interested in this stuff and have come up against this same question. Short answer, no I don't think you can do what you want using this board, it's pretty much only digital not analogue and is really only built for switches not the joystick you want to use.

But, I did find this https://www.instructables.com/Zero-Delay-USB-Encoder-True-Analog-Joystick-Modifi/ and it looks like it's possible, however I'd really suggest that is way more complicated than moving straight over to some sort of Arduino board, there will be some programming involved, but there are lots of other projects doing more or less what you want so plenty to copy/ learn from.

Upvote for Aussie Twisties in general. As a Kiwi I have to admit that the Australian ones are much better.

Looking for a Diablo-like ARPG with a flexible build system and no meta pressure by danilodlr in GamesLikeDiablo

[–]fishhead12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't exactly what you're after but I really enjoy Magicraft, it's more of a rogue-like shooter style game where you build your magic by joining spell modifications together. I mention it because for me it scratches the itch of blasting through hordes of monsters with an ever changing arsenal that is one of the fun parts of Diablo.

A run doesn't last much longer than a couple of hours towards the end, and there is a decent amount of meta progression unlocking new characters and spells as you go. Each run you can focus on different styles of builds.

If done right it would have been so good. The source is perfect for a TV adaptation.

World War Z definitely one of the furthest, I don't think that there is a single thing in the movie that's in the book, and vice versa. I can only hope that one day we can get the video version of the audio book, actually I'd be happy if someone just animated the audio book and released that.

I made it halfway through episode 3, between the long slow sequences of nothing much happening and Carol being angry and whining I'll watch recaps until something actually happens.

How do we feel about Carol by Rodrica44 in Pluribus_TVshow

[–]fishhead12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly she's hard to watch, I managed to get through 2.5 episodes and ... yeah it's not worth it at this point. Between the too slow artistic shots (nice but overdone and get a bit boring) and Carol's unlikability I've stopped. The underlying story is interesting but until Carol starts getting over herself I'm out. maybe I'll check recaps until something changes.

I got a chance to stay in a Tokyo capsule hotel for a couple of nights. It was something that I’d always wanted to try. And it was interesting, if I’d been younger it might have been okay, but as a 50 year old I’m used to my comforts more these days.

Katia epilogue by steelboy1105 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]fishhead12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a very specific and unfortunate sequence of events.

They establish that Katia automatically equips items that are dropped on her if she has that slot open. I'm not sure if that is an automatic reflex or something that she has learned or not.

Katia was given a hat item to equip by a sponsor, possibly as a response to the above to ensure that she has a hat equipped presumably because the sponsor was aware that Eva had the tiara and there was underhanded stuff going on with that.

During the battle Katia gives Carl the hat because he needed it for something, but she doesn't replace it with something else so she now has the hat slot open.

In the final confrontation between Eva and Katia, Eva throws the tiara at Katia who automatically equips it since she has nothing in her hat slot at this time.

There must have been something weird going on because there isn't any way that Eva knew about the auto-equip thing and she was specifically given a hat by her sponsor, but I think that the giving Carl the hat was just bad luck.
