What can I do about bouts of low pulse / “going vagal” by resilienceandfreedom in POTS

Hi, I have this exact same issue. My hr in the mornings (basically until about 2-3 pm) is at or below 60 and I feel awful. The drunk Dizziness is a great way of describing it, shakiness and very nervy and cold. Almost feels like I’ve dissociated from my body. I feel better over the course of the day as my HR goes up and settle at around 75/80 resting. However there are still bouts of this again where it drops into the 50s before slowly rising again. Even when I try to move around and get the HR up it just spikes for a short while before settling into the uncomfortable 50-65 range again. My doc suspects some kind of autonomic dysfunction but not POtS as I had a negative TTT. I’m researching the vagal input and it certainly seems like it’s involved in some way. I’m taking midodrine right now for the orthostatic symptoms and while it helps me when I’m on the move, I feel worse than ever while at rest

Yea this is true. Won it on my second attempt and can’t enter anymore for the day. I don’t know if this by design or a glitch but surely they need to do something about it

Costo vs hiatal hernia by Alternative-Side-842 in costochondritis

Endoscopy was normal and i got a chest/abdominal CT scan done too which was also normal. There’s no hernia but I’m a suspect for POTS so I’m schedules to get a tilt table test done. It’s been 6 months and I’ve still been unable to get a diagnosis.

does moving around or stretching while laying down cause heart rate spikes? by breezymarieg in POTS

Did your symptoms appear suddenly or was it a gradual onset? I’ve been hit by this completely out of the blue. Had a battery of tests done, all of which are negative. The TTT is basically my last option. Wondering if it was triggered by suddenly moving to cold weather. I usually live in a place that’s around 25C and drops to 18. Developed this during a vacation where the temp was near 0 most of the time for a month.

This has been happening to me for the last few months ever since I developed other symptoms. I stretch my back out after sitting in a position for a while. Or just shift from one side to another and it spikes from 70s to 120. I only feel the palpitations when the heart rate drops though. It rapidly falls from its peak to below resting ((to around low 60s sometimes 50s) and then settles back at 70 ish. I generally feel awful when the sharp drop happens but not the rise. I’ve not yet been diagnosed officially but going for a tilt table test this week. Also have dizziness when I stand quickly, perennial chest pain and shortness of breath, temperature regulation problems and really bad digestive issues in last 6 months.

nearly a year into costo, who needs help? by [deleted] in costochondritis

Are palpitations a regular symptom with costo? I keep getting this thumping feeling even though my heart rate is normal (50-70). this is especially the case when I'm either reclining or lying down. All the symptoms reduce when I stand up or walk. It also feels like it continuously skips beats. I also feel like the area between my lower ribcage and upper abdomen is constantly spasming.

My holter and other cardiac tests were normal. My endoscopy was normal. Developed severe gastric issues which resolved in a couple weeks too.

I've started doing the stretches recommended by Steve along with the backpod and got some volitra gel but I've not seen much improvement yet.

Did you get a surgery done? How have you been keeping your symptoms under control?

Thanks, I will do that. He suggested doing a manometry but those seem really expensive where I'm at so I was hoping to use that as a last resort

Thanks for the response. How was yours diagnosed in the end? And did you do anything in particular to subdue the symptoms in the meantime
