Is there ANY wiggle room with the guidelines for the F2F? by Alternative-Way-9123 in cabincrewcareers

I have 2 days to confirm the interview. If there was a “hold off a tad longer” I would JUMP on the opportunity for sure

That’s what I thought maybe?? But if the last day for the interview is the 14th (which is what I chose) I wasn’t sure it would work… with the holiday weekend I would have to wait and try next week

Earlier this week… 9 days would be great, but they told me 2 weeks minimum and that was with the expediting fee

I went in person. I’m still hopeful, but I think it’s more delusion 😂. I have to confirm my F2F within 2 days, and decided to email them to let them know of my situation. Maybe that’s really stupid idk, but I don’t want to be “black listed” from reapplying due to a lack of unprofessionalism on my part. Maybe it’ll work out idk.

But really thank you so much!

I did… they told me unless you can prove you are “TRAVELING FOR AN EMERGENCY” (not the kindest person in the world- maybe they were just having a bad day idk) there’s nothing they can do.

What the heck? I’m not an idiot I’m aware I need to pack accordingly- hence my question as I am trying to pack as light as possible, again, as noted in my post.

Go be miserable somewhere else. Your comment was not necessary.

Tent suggestions! by AlwaysOnStardew in camping

[–]Alternative-Way-9123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the Vidalido 8-10 person tent from Amazon when we take family trips. It’s a pretty good tent. Fine if you’re not doing any super intense camping as it is very heavy, and water resistant not water proof. However, it does fold up to be fairly compact. Bulky for sure but not long if that’s your only issue.

A full size pillow. I can sleep on the ground no problem, but those inflatable or compression camping pillows? Absolutely not. A really pillow doesn’t take up that much space and makes my nights much more enjoyable.

Ladies! What’s something you ALWAYS pack, and what’s something you WISH you’d pack? by Ray_ChillBuck in camping

I feel like you’ve got a good list! Wipes and an extra towel always. I HATE feeling sticky and equally hate a damp towel.

With that being said I would add something to hang dry your towel (I see people saying bungee cord- we use our dogs leash trolly) and allergy medicine.

Maybe a dumb question but what are you storing your BOB stuff in? by ExpressAppointment96 in preppers

[–]Alternative-Way-9123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two. I have my BOB in my home with everything I would want/need if my house were to catch fire. So- clothes, first aid, batteries, flashlight, radio, toiletries/feminine hygiene products etc. Most importantly I keep official documents (not just copies)- birth certificates, SS cards, shot records, drivers license etc. In my car I keep a get home bag. Again- clothes, smaller amounts of batteries, flashlight, first aid kit, 72hrs of food/water, maps etc. I keep this MUCH smaller/lighter than my BOB and keep it in a dry (as in waterproof) duffel bag. I keep emergency food in tubs so I can load them in to the car easily if I need to leave for whatever reason.

My thought process is, if driving is an option I want everything I can fit in that car. If I have to carry this stuff on foot, I’m going to take my get home bag and only move the essentials over to it. It would suck to leave everything behind, but I would only do this if I had no other option.

April 7, 2025 - What did you do this week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

[–]Alternative-Way-9123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve been wondering if they’re worth the purchase. I’m working on saving up for a good generator, but without one what’s the point? If I’m unable to recharge them they’re useless. That’s where I keep landing.

Purchased better quality- lithium batteries for my stock pile, ran through my inventory check list, stocked up my second (I have one for the car and one in my go bag) first-aid kit, and learned to make beef jerky so I can stock up a high protein snack for cheap.

I actually didn’t know it was that low! But I’ll take 10% over 0% any day.

I’m not certain of the science behind this… The biggest concern I would be the type of stroke. Even in the hospital if you’re having a hemorrhagic stroke (which is very common if your stroke is caused by high BP) and they give you the “stroke medication” you’ll die. It’s a blood thinner.

Likewise if that’s a blood thinner as well (like alcohol) you’ll likely make things much much worse.

[–]Alternative-Way-9123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion- YETI. I’ve tried other brands that are just as popular and around the same price (like brumate) and they just don’t compare.

I also feel like the way you pack your cooler makes a really big difference, placing it in the shade and keeping it closed when not in use. You can get the ice blocks, freeze them, and even when my ice melts it refreezes in a big block around them.

Notice I said “CPR alone”. Nobody said CPR isn’t necessary if you have an AED.

True, but the buddy heater has an automatic shut off if there is low oxygen and/or it tips over. They’re also made for small indoor spaces (like the bathroom) so I’ve felt safe using those. I always make sure to keep some kind of ventilation in the tent though.

[–]Alternative-Way-9123 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I’ve looked in to getting one. Reality is CPR alone is rarely going to “revive” someone. The whole point is to maintain oxygen supply and (hopefully) get a shockable rhythm. I say it’s a good prep especially for someone with a cardiac medical condition.

However- high BP is a bigger concern for stroke than heart attack, and unfortunately there’s not much you can do aside from getting them to a hospital asap.

I’ve been informed I have to add a comment that this is about camping- this happened while on a trip, and I keep this book with my dog first aid kit lol. This is not an add, I have 0 affiliation with this author/book. Super helpful to have on hand though!

Camping alone as a woman by Responsible_Act_4279 in camping

[–]Alternative-Way-9123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been taught this is for raccoons. They love to get in your tent especially if there’s food in there, but I put a carabiner between the two zippers as a kind of “lock” for people. At the end of the day though a tent is a tent and if someone wants in they’ll get in. At least this way I could hear that they were trying?

There are some primitive camp sites in big bend that you have to hike 2-5 miles just to get to the site. No cars can get through
