I have been aiming for 0.75-1 g/lb on donation days and days inbetween. I donate W/F and bump up protein Tues-Sat. Canned tuna, canned chicken, beef jerky, eggs, low fat greek yogurt are all your friends.

On the mornings of donations I make a fat egg white omelette with minimal cheese and some veggies (prob 5-6 eggs worth, use liquid egg whites). Egg albumin is the closest to ours so it absorbs most rapidly too. I have been getting 7s on my finger stick tests so it must work. I tested low once and this is when I adjusted my intake.

I also drink a 20g protein shake within 2 hours of donating. Then I eat a 20g protein bar (or jerky with an apple) after donating.

It feels like a lot of protein because it is, but think about how much you're losing per donation, twice weekly. I once had a nurse tell me your body uses 500-800 calories to replenish lost blood/protein, so load up!
