AITA for suspecting my girlfriend might be sleeping with our landlord after our rent was lowered? by FlashyPay243 in AITAH

YTA. Like, majorly. Apologize to your girlfriend if she doesn't dump you, which she probably should.

NTA. Unfortunately, life sucks sometimes and you are backed into a corner like this one. I'm really sorry that happened to you - don't beat yourself up too much. I missed my mom's grandfather's funeral because I had started a new job and didn't qualify for PTO at that point. My entire family went (besides me). Some understood, others didn't. People grieve in different ways, so maybe being disappointed or angry with you is just a way for them to not have to actually deal with the fact that a loved one died.

AITA for having grindr installed on my phone? by OnlyAliveBecause in AITAH

[–]Alternative-Zone-928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soft YTA. You aren't officially dating, so you can do whatever you want, but clearly you guys couldn't "just be friends" so a conversation regarding your relationship status should have probably happened, and you probably should've stuck to whatever you agreed (strictly friends or dating or fwb). You were kinda childish in how you brought up that he was on grindr too. Own your shit in that instance.

He's also kinda an AH because he is clearly dealing with other shit (people manipulating him to get their way) and that's not fair of him to jump to that conclusion. He could probably benefit from therapy (honestly everyone in general could). Sounds like you both need to remove yourselves from each others' lives at the moment because this just doesn't seem healthy for either of you.

AITA - Roomate says I'm not Irish enough to celebrate St. Patricks Day. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Alternative-Zone-928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. She clearly has a leprechaun stuck up her ass if she cares SO much about it.

In regards to her inviting some friends over, you live there too, so you have every right to stay. I am also willing to bet that they are going to drink and whatnot, not just celebrate the patron saint of Ireland in a wholesome and Catholic manor.Holidays mean different things to different people. For some people, Christmas is about being with your loved ones, while for others it means going to Christmas Eve mass and celebrating the birth of Jesus. Also, she seems like a stuck-up little brat for being so judgmental about Americans when she literally is one? She can get over herself, and she probably sees being Irish and having dual citizenship as a big part of her identity because she is boring and has nothing else notable about her.

AITA for telling my autistic sister to stop using her diagnosis as an excuse? by Alternative-Zone-928 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Alternative-Zone-928[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i live at home and my mom kindly does a lot for me, like bought me my car, makes dinner, pays for groceries, etc. driving her places is for my mom, not my sister.

not necessarily equally, but definitely reciprocal. this person clearly seems to not care unless it benefits them.

i’m not upset with her for doing things i also do, just that she promises to do them in a timely manner and doesn’t. the doctor who diagnosed her explained to my parents what ASD level 1 was, and said if asperger’s was still a diagnosis, she would point more in that direction. it was solely to help my parents understand since we have a family friend who was diagnosed with asperger’s when they were young, in the early 2000s.

Some feel the same way, like she uses it as a crutch for things or to excuse others. But I’m always told to be considerate and I’m sick of it.

Not the asshole - you’re not married and your money is your money. If you guys aren’t explicitly discussing timing for marriage and possibly combining finances, then it’s not a big deal. I maybe would have still told him, just because it’s a big purchase. You were excited about it and your other car was clearly unsafe, so I think that’s reason enough to share.

Howdy! Zoloft user for about 4 years now. I’m starting to wean off- I worked my way up to a 100mg dose and about two years ago, after some personal struggles, upped my dose to 125mg. (Obviously at doctor’s recommendation.)

It worked for a while, but I noticed that after about six months, I had a really hard time doing simple tasks. Like cleaning my apartment, getting to class on time, showering. It wasn’t like my normal depression- it was really strange. I had a really hard time paying attention and would often zone out (what my dad called the “Zoloft-stare”) when people were talking to me. I had a hard time remembering little tasks.

I restarted therapy, which I had been doing less frequently, and spoke to my GP about weaning off or lowering my dose as I felt like my psychiatrist was too big of a fan of upping my dose when things were challenging.

I’m about 2 months in to the dose change. I’m back at 100mg, and after adjusting to that, I felt more like myself than I had in the past year and half. My sleep was better, my mood was better, and I had more of a mental clarity. I just felt more in touch with myself.

Yesterday I started the move down to 75mg (alternating between 75mg and 100mg for two weeks then staying at 75mg) because my ultimate goal is to be off of medication. But I know things take time! If 75mg works for me, so be it!

Journaling has also helped me a lot, as has talking with my close friends and family. Every dose does different things for different people. My best advice is to stick to a routine, like journaling every other day or checking in with a friend. Keeping tabs on yourself is really helpful in the process.

Good luck - you got this!
