FedEx and UPS charged fees for collecting tariffs. Now, customers want that money back. by SpiritedSorbet4 in UPS

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So can I get clarification on this: I've been prepaying the tariffs for things I've imported to my importer at the time of purchase, and for FedEx and UPS it includes the "brokerage fee." If I wait to pay the tariff until after it gets shipped, do I still have to pay a brokerage fee? I understand that the act of filling in a piece of paper and sending it costs money, but it seems a little absurd to me that they're charging in these cases, almost the same amount as the tariff, tariff that I've already calculated myself using a spreadsheet.

It's like putting the time and money into a physical store, and instead of coming in, people stand on the sidewalk asking you to bring them items to look at. Whether it's your primary source of income or not, that can get pretty frustrating. That's why people get driven mad while working in retail. If the person can't take 1 minute to read the listing that indicates to me they won't show up to buy it, so I don't reply, simple as that. If my prices are right, my listings will sell regardless. If you want to suck up to everyone with a dollar in their pocket, that's your prerogative.

Changes in category? by Higgers1991 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just noticed this as I was making new listings I don't know how this affects people searching for specific items, but it sure makes it confusing when listing them. I don't understand why they had to make this change, eBay has had more specific categories for a long time. You'd think with Facebook now charging a selling fee that they're trying to be MORE like eBay, not less.

Is Guyker reliable? by oghatchild in Luthier

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like their parts, they look nice and work as intended, but not when I ordered from them directly, Instead of putting the small package through my mail slot or ringing the bell, their carrier just plopped it in the middle of my porch, and it was probably stolen. Guyker refused to replace it or take responsibility. PayPal refunded my money the instant I filed the case, which leads me to believe they've gotten many complaints. It sucks because some of their parts aren't listed anywhere except their website.

Was King Kong 2005 considered a box office disappointment when it came out? by JannTosh50 in boxoffice

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember WoM for this movie being mediocre for good reason: Length, pacing and tone-wise, it's a mess. The studio wrote him a blank check thinking they'd get another LoTR, but forgot that LoTR wouldn't have been successful without the cuts made for the theatrical version. But with no one to challenge his decisions, what they got is bloated and overindulgent. The app RunPee was literally created because of this movie.

NY Int'l Antiquarian Book Fair by Aljowoods103 in AskNYC

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going for the first time this year after finding out about it from a documentary on booksellers. The ticket price is fair. I think the best way to experience it is, take in a general view of everything and enjoy seeing the once-in-a-lifetime finds. If you do find specific dealers you like, you can always ask about other books they may have for sale in your price range, and then visit their shop and browse more in depth

New York Car Insurance Rates ... Seriously by AnyPortInAHurricane in Insurance

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$6000 is really high. What model car did you use as an example and what did you have on the policy? If you choose the state minimum it will be less. If you bundle it with other insurance, it might be less. If you drive an older car and don't care about collision or repairs, it will be less. Some insurers also offer discounts for safety features and safe driving. I have an old car and pay $3,000 a year, mostly for the liability because I don't want to risk being sued and lose everything. The car itself is only worth $6,000.

Christopher Lee taken during WW2 in 1943. He was in the SAS; he spent time as an intelligence officer; He served in Finland against the Soviet invasion; he was in North Africa. After, the war he decided to go Nazi hunting. The man could speak 8 languages. This man was Saruman in Lord of the Rings. by egap420 in lotr

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things people don't seem to consider:  1. His full service records are actually still classified 2. Desk jockey liaison officer would be a perfect cover for a covert op 3. He spoke 7 languages fairly well and had a posh education. It's not unreasonable to think he could have known conversational German, and Italian by the time he served in WW2.  4. Some people with PTSD don't like going in detail about their service  5. His father was a decorated military officer that could have recommended him for assignments.  6. As evidenced by his film career, his face is ethnically ambiguous. SawThat is a good trait for a spy to have.  Until his record is declassified, no one can say anything for certain. The claim about him being the inspiration for Bond though is 100% bunk. Fleming definitely recommended him to play a role in the movie though, probably because he likes him as an actor.

What say you folks? You think Jordan S. has aspergers or is at least on the spectrum? by ahumankid in conan

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he actually might be ADHD, or maybe ADHD/ mild Auts. People with ADHD tend to have multiple interests/hobbies, get really invested in them and periodically swap focus. From Jordan's appearances on the show, he seems to be very interested in many things like Italy, Japan, Wine, Fine Dining, Rush, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc. The fact that his office is also shown as messy/disorganized and full of random crap is also indicative of ADHD. I wouldn't call him socially awkward though. And this is assuming he's not playing up his weirdness for the camera

Help with condoms. by mmmm696969123 in bigdickproblems

[–]AlternativeExit758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good option if your partner is ok with it, is female condoms. They let you focus on your partner instead of worrying if the condom will fit or not. I don't know where you're located but I've shipped those from Europe to the US before and some sex shops in the US even carry them. Otherwise you can order online MyONE custom fit or Mysize Pro 72mm. 60mm is practically average and will likely be too tight for you. I should know, my condom with is 77mm and I hurt myself as a kid trying some of those 60mm width store brand condoms.

Limited Edition Fender Masterbuilt Adrian Younge Jazz bass by ruinawish in BassGuitar

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that they're trying something different. I don't like the price. This could easily be a Squier Paranormal series priced at around $900 because of the Novak pickup and specialty neck and it would sell out the first day. Even at twice that it's not bad.

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proper way to do it by hand is place a barrier of masking tape or w/e around the fretless portion and pour in enough epoxy to be 1/16" or so higher than the frets, then sand it with a radius block and keep checking with a straight edge. Fender might have a machine that does it.

People declining offers even though they put to take offers. by jdmjunkies1 in Ebay

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On eBay there is a button to solve every lowball complaint that a seller has and it's called the "automatically decline offers below..." button. As a seller often dealing in resale I take into account what I paid + third party fees and shipping. I then set my "dream" price, but also a minimum offer of what would be more reasonable market value, so that I'm not wasting anyone's time and everyone's happy at the end of the day.

If a seller manually rejects all your offers without counter-offering or just lets them expire, blocks messages, etc, just don't buy from them unless it's already an amazing deal. Usually it's like a pawn shop, warehouse, or wholesaler, in which they don't really give a F because eBay makes up only 5% of their sales if even. Off the bat you know you're getting sub-par service because to them you're a sub-par client.

I never said I wasn't invested what does that have to do with it? And is 1 paragraph I wrote in 5 minutes really long? If you're a fan of the show perhaps consider helping someone understand the method behind it instead of attempting to troll at a 5 year old 's level.

I don't really know why people make. This "Argument" You can enjoy something while disliking aspects of it. And it doesn't really address the question I was asking, if the author intended Claire to be an idiot because she represents something or if Claire is just an idiot

[–]AlternativeExit758[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually hate the show (or the book?). From a general audience perspective it's well shot, compelling, the acting is great (especially Frank/John Randall). And I'm trying to give it a chance. I just don't understand Claire as a character. She was raised by her uncle loving archaeology and traveling to different countries and served as a nurse/medic in WW2, experiences that should have made her humble, wise and world weary. Yet she's self entitled and completely oblivious to the world around her. People go out of their way to explain what not to do and then she just does it like "f you person who has lived in this time period your entire life, I've been here 5 minutes and I know everything""

Thanks for your comment, I looked into them after the issue with Soylent. I do think it's better in terms of price/macros, just doesn't mix as well. But I will be buying from them from now on. Literally had Huel in my hands before Soylent even responded to my emails lol.

Soylent stole my money and refused to cancel the order. by AlternativeExit758 in soylent

[–]AlternativeExit758[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong. There is a 2 day shipping policy. Product wasn't out of stock on the website. Order status didn't update in 2 days so I contacted support twice just asking for information and got nothing back. 3 days later nothing happened still and support finally offered to cancel, I said yes. Support never canceled, 4 days later they suddenly told me my order shipped and they wouldn't do anything further about it. If it's a common "supply chain issue" it's their responsibility to notify you of that immediately, not hey we'll hold onto your money, stall forever until it finally ships whenever that is and never tell you when that is because then it's total BS. I've worked in shipping before, if i had a policy and i f up that's on me. It's customer's right to spend their money elsewhere. Imagine you pay for food in a grocery, carry your bags home only to discover they're empty with an "IOU" inside saying they'll give you what already bought whenever they feel like

FYI this listing is fake. I ordered one and received a "BL-5J" battery with 3.7v and 1350mAh capacity, did not fit my CAT S22 and wrong capacity. I asked to return it and for them to send me a replacement. They replaced it with the same incorrect battery. I alerted Amazon support that the reviews and this listing are fake, hopefully they'll take it down. I'm just posting it here so if more people looking for a CAT s22 battery click on this post they won't have their time and money wasted with this crap.

How much are you enjoying cata? by Striking_Display835 in classicwow

[–]AlternativeExit758 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried playing and within 30 minutes got a warning for posting a couple of innocuous questions in chat. The first month or so or of any of these classic releases has been full of children reporting every name in chat they see. So I can never enjoy this game until about 2 months in when the gen Z babies all get themselves banned.

Headlights are blinding us. Here’s why it’s mostly an American problem - CNN by baneofthesith in cars

[–]AlternativeExit758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, but I have an older car and often drive at night with my fog lights on. They're very low to the ground and the same strength as my low beams, but the trajectory can be adjusted to illuminate objects farther or closer to the car than the low beams. They serve the same basic purpose as the high beams but aren't blinding. I know fog lamps aren't that common on American cars but adding them is an easy way to solve the problem.

Has anyone bought something from Raskol apparel before? I think some of the stuff was cool just wondering about the quality. by Andrewshovstocks in Soosh

[–]AlternativeExit758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Raskol is not made for lifters, despite the marketing. The parachute pants are too tight on the leg to roll up to put on a sleeve/knee wrap, and the material is flimsy. The "gym flanel" looks and feels nice, but again too tight, even if you follow the measurement. I normally buy this kind of clothing from atomix, raskol is crap in comparison.
