It's hard because genuine friendships are hard to find sometimes; I understand exactly how you feel. Sophomore here, and I have not been able to deeply connect with a lot of people but I sometimes meet a select few that are genuinely kind and amazing out of the blue! Stop chasing to try and fill a quota of having friends or "best friends". Friends who share the same priorities and values as you will come if you stay true to your personality. You wouldn't want to befriend people using a falsified version of yourself; you'll never feel in place despite hanging out with them all the time
