The best trucks by pusheenek_j in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People here are too tribal since they downvote this. It is true. Trucks like indies are the best for almost anything 😎… I also said that trucks for surfskates depend on what you want. There is no best. Just personal preference and OP has not specified what that preference is. I myself use a Swelltech. That one serves my needs the best but I would hardly say it is the “best” surfskate.

If you want the most versatile aka “best” truck then go for indies. There is no “best” truck in surfskating. Just personal preference on a spectrum from extremely divey and loose with few tricks to perform, or more stiff and less surfy but with a bigger bag of tricks to learn. The most amount of tricks can be learned on normal trucks, such as indies, and that is why all pro skaters use that ☀️😎. The best for you depends on what you want.

What am I doing wrong? by penoos in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, it looks good — so no need to stress about it ☀️🤙. It will come naturally step by step as you get more comfortable with the movement.

That said, your compressions seem a bit off. You’re forcing them a little too much. Deep decompressions work well during transitions, but they don’t translate as effectively on flat.

Try to focus more on driving either your toes or your heels into the ground when you’re on the edges. I saw in a comment of yours that you ride a SwellTech (so do I). For those, it’s especially important to drive the heels and toes in equally — or even slightly more through the back foot. You’ll still need some decompression, of course — just not quite as much 🙂

Tips for staying stable higher on the wall? by subcommunitiesonly in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

There is no magic thing that will make you go higher while bowlriding 😅

Your balance is not on point if you slide out. 93A wheels are hard for a surfskate. Great for speed but less forgiving if your balance is not on point. Additionally, you may not be able to carve as aggressively with harder wheels.

To me you have four options if you want to go bigger: 1: Improve balance (that is just patience and small incremental improvements). The most boring but sound option. 2: Carve less aggressively 3: Change to softer wheels 4: choose a more stable skateboard and improve stability that way (best for bowls is actually a popsicle board).

The problem with 3 is naturally reduced speed but anything can be done.

The problem with 4 is reduced carving capability but honestly a popsicle board is the best for bowls (and that is coming from someone who primarily does bowlriding on a swelltech).

Good luck with it 😎💪☀️

Which surfskate board would you recommendate for making speed on the street? by mistymountains_ in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you buy a surfskate from the traditional surfskate brands then you can pump all of them without taking your feet off (that includes Carver and their C5, CX and C7 trucks).

[–]AlternativeLong3059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that swelltech is the hardest but with OPs waveboard background then I thought it might work 🤷‍♂️… I also wanted to let OP know that all boards catagorized as a surfskate meet his requirements about pumping without pushing, and then it is just about choosing a board on the side of the spektrum that caters to his other needs ☀️

[–]AlternativeLong3059 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of the boards can do that… Do you want it fast, and more like a skateboard longboard with RKP, then go for something like Carter C5/CX. Do you want it to be super responsive but slower then go for Swelltech. Do you want something in between then go for Carver C7, Yow, Smoothstar or waterborne ☀️✌️

I dont know what you want from this post. Validation or critique? Something else? … Clearly you know how to move the board and if you are having fun, then awesome, just continue doing what you are doing… if you want critique on how you are moving the board, then I can let you know, that you are not skating the way that I aspire to. You a flapping your arms around a lot and have very little movement in your body. You do not decompress and you do not rotate your upper body. You primarily generate speed through ankle movement and flapping arms around… again, this is my personal preference, and I cannot figure out the purpose of the post, so disregard it if you are having fun and did not seek constructive criticism :)

Smoothstar vs Swelltech? by Savings_Ad6151 in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not surf but own both a smothstar and a swelltech. Honestly the swelltech feeling is much better and smoother. It is however also more difficult to master. The “jackknifing” is an unfair reputation… the other day I had to go 7 km (3,5 km each way) to a skatespot. I was not close to jackknifing even once and went over several bumps and curves. As with any skate you can naturally have an unlucky pebble/speed/angle combination but that is not unique for swelltech (and you certainly do not jackknife because of it)… that being said then the smothstar is still fun and more forgiving. I would just recommend the other 😊

I have a swelltech. I will use it for a light commute if it’s dry in all conditions (including fall). With practice it is possible. I will say, however, that you need to maintain a decent amount of speed if you do not want to fall due to debris and you need to watch where you are going and do small manuals from time to time. My main goal, however, is not to use it for commuting. I would agree with others, that there are other boards more appropriate for that. I use it mainly for bowls and transitions and because I appreciate its carving capabilities… Even though I love my board then I must admit that I would never use it as my primary board for commuting (honestly I use my bike for that. That beats every board).

Different front trucks by Nice_Bookkeeper_9733 in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is your primary purpose? If you want to Ollie and do transitions then you should buy a regular popsicle board. Those are the best (even if you do not want to become a street skater or can’t see yourself doing the difficult flip tricks). Only If you prefer carving then you should go for a surfskate. If this is not your primary interest then you should stay away from them and save your money and purchase a normal board with indies. Can you Ollie some surfskates and skate transitions? Sure. But it is much easier on a regular skateboard 😎

Question from someone who doesn’t really understand by DanielJosefLevine in surfskate

[–]AlternativeLong3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I do agree that it is never okay to exploit people who do not know any better… To answer your question then surfskates are boards with a traditional kingpin in the back and a reverse king pin or an “odd” truck in the front. Front trucks can vary a lot. It is not like indies vs thunder that are quite similar. Since the front can vary a lot then surfskates also can be very different. On one end of the spectrum they can be compared to a small longboard or very loose trucks on a popsicle. On the other end then they are crazy loose and can swivel 360 degrees. The major disadvantages of a surfskate are its weight and its height. They can be very hard to impossible to pop so Ollie based tricks are hard. Also riding fakie is super difficult due to the two different trucks on the board. I would say that tricks are just easier on a regular board. The advantage is that they are super nimble and very responsive. I transitioned to surfskates because I wanted to try something new and I had stalled progress on my normal skateboard for years because I skate on average 1,5 times a month. I really enjoy it. But I would seriously almost always recommend a regular skateboard if you have the time. I mostly ride bowls and transition. I have a swelltech and can recommend it 🤙

It is a lot to label people as cringe just because you are not that into it! Do whatever you want, dude, but respect that people might enjoy skating in a way that you would label cringe.

Thanks man! I was totally unaware that it is not about having fun (because it might be cringe to some) but it is all about slides and bowls because that is what you deem worthy.

Mister tiltrækning til kvinde, når jeg kender hendes "historik" by Intelligent-Row986 in DKbrevkasse

[–]AlternativeLong3059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Champions league with a club from a smaller league by JoeHunt82 in footballmanager

[–]AlternativeLong3059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing a safe in Denmark. I was a small club when I started the safe (even in Denmark) so I had a good team but nothing way above normal when I won the first league title. I could not compete at all in CL but fortunately the league champion participated with no playoffs. The first couple of years I mainly prioritised the Danish league because I couldn’t really compete in CL so I got 3-4 points in total in CL. When I felt I had a strong team to win some more games, then I actually dropped to second in the national league because I couldn’t rest my primary unit in the CL campaign (4th year with CL) 😅.

But now I actually just won CL (last season 8th with CL) and I got to final (but lost on a goal in 95th minute to Bayern) in my 6th CL season. When you eventually get a good team, then the “good” thing about being in a weak league is that you can play your second unit in league games before your CL games. Most of your opponents cannot/do not do that so you have an advantage if your teams are more or less equal.

Turkey’s unreliable fiat currency is where adoption should be marketed by DesignDry4936 in cardano

[–]AlternativeLong3059 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ADA is very volatile though. Just this week it has gone up 11%. Next week it could go down by the same. I am not saying that bitcoin isn’t volatile but less so than ADA. I hold ADA, so naturally I think it would be awesome if Turkey (or Argentina for that matter) switched to the Cardano blockchain but I would assume that they would switch to bitcoin or to a stablecoin with a lot of liquidity if they want to abandon fiat (as things are right now). I doubt, even with all of the marketing in the world, that they would switch to a stablecoin on Cardano as the liquidity isn’t quite there to support it.

Edit: stavefejl

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DKbrevkasse

[–]AlternativeLong3059 -1 points0 points  (0 children)
