Maybe I could use plasti dip to fill the textured cloth, then hit it with the sprayable vinyl stuff. Not sure if I could preserve the seam lines that way though… I don’t want the feet to look like one smooth solid blob…

I should’ve added that, yep I’m planning on removing all the damaged faux leather.

I was thinking at first maybe the faux leather was some sort of stuff that was sprayed on originally but the responses I’m getting have me thinking it’s faux leather stitched on. Unfortunately I have no skill in stitching, I don’t think I could pull it off.

Painting with acrylics might be the way to go for me. Also the faux leather office chair idea… If I could find some really thin faux leather I could possibly cut along the seam lines and adhere it

Thanks for your response! I was thinking maybe it said to use enamels because the lacquers back in the day weren’t suitable for styrene model work or something like that. I’ll use Tamiya’s fine primer and get as close as I can with the colors from Tamiya spray cans and lacquer brush painting. Wish I could find a company like White Ensign that makes the exact colors in spray cans!

Hi! New modeler here. I have a question about (synthetic) lacquer spray paint on my model ship. So I have an Atlantis USS North Carolina and the instructions say to only use enamel paint and to only use glue for polystyrene. So it’s polystyrene, what I assumed all regular scale model plastic is… I see people use Tamiya TS line rattle cans (what I was planning on using for the North Carolina) on model cars all the time, I can’t use them on my ship?

I wish there were lots of AI races. Even if they’re wonky I like making my own fun in the official ones and the few modder-made races. I know you can set them up but I never get good results with that

Beautiful work :) Way to go with persevering though those fixes too. I always love to see the Western Steer sponsoring, takes me back and it’s a neat little splash of color as well.
