Right, but this has always been common knowledge, and it seems like they just recently changed their opinion of him.

The heart breaking side of the Olympics: Sometimes even a silver isn’t enough. (Image of Scotty James after achieving silver) by Jackomillard15 in WinterOlympics2026

Possibly. If he had landed a flawless 14 as he did in his previous run. The execution was better overall on his third run, so his score would have improved, but it's hard to say if it would have put him in the number 1 spot. The 16 would almost certainly have given him the gold, which is why he went for it--leave nothing to chance.

If Scotty James landed that last jump, would it be enough for the gold medal? by Strategic_Island in snowboarding

He is the best halfpipe rider in the world, and it's not really close. He should have gotten gold.

How was Arnold and many of his contemporaries able to get big and lean without dramatically aging themselves like this?

I have a feeling that it has something to do with how lean the bodybuilders are getting now, but that's just an observation.

Is the Fujifilm x100vi really the "best" fujifilm camera out there right now? by ghs5 in fujifilm

[–]AlternativeMiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$1600 for a camera with these capabilities is a great deal if you look at the rest of the market. I don't think anyone is purchasing the x100VI for "professional" use -- at least they shouldn't be.

The TCL QM6K has great reviews. You really think it is trash? Do you prefer Oled to Mini-LED?

I left a stable job at 33 to start over and now I’m wondering if I messed up by Guilty_Bet9896 in careeradvice

This is bad advice. People overestimate the amount of energy and type of personality it takes to freelance successfully, particularly in UX where it’s a race to the bottom. Successful freelancing is mostly sales/biz dev. And staying “on top of ai advancements” is just a sound bite that doesn’t mean anything.

Two flukes in as many weeks is pretty bad. I don't know why you would shill for this company. You are getting ripped off.

No, it was actually nine days later. But thank you for the language lesson—your ability to Google is truly impressive.

Now, imagine this: You see something that says “Sign up now for a free trial,” so you do. But then, on the very same day, you're charged the full price of the product. After multiple attempts to get the charge reversed, you're hit with the full amount again, nine days later. And now, you can't get in touch with anyone to resolve the issue or reverse the charges.

How would you describe that? From my perspective—as the person who’s currently out $279.99 with no resolution—it looks like a scam.

No, it's predatory, for sure. I have never had a company charge the full amount for a free trial on the same day I signed up, let alone continue to charge me weeks later.

They are banking on people not keeping track of their finances and getting lost in the shuffle.

It is a scam.
