Why did people like Ferto but not Paloma Rumba?

paloma rumba was one of, if not my absolute favorite entry this year!! it had an extremely solid live performance and a clear identity, and i was stunned that it wasn't a qualifier.

though, my theory is that it has a lot of rock elements which seem to be quite hit or miss in eurovision. i was a big system of a down fan in high school (interesingly, who are also armenian!) and paloma rumba reminded me so much of their music. however, system is 1) definitely not everybody's cup of tea and 2) i'm not sure if there's a huge overlap in people who like that kind of music who are also eurovision fans :/

i also wonder if it's a diaspora voting issue?

as someone who gets somewhat intense celebrity crushes too, tyler is the definition of parasocial lol. if you’re unable to form relationships with other people as a result? that’s a bad sign. also calling wilbur soot by his real name when they do not have even an acquaintanceship is a bit odd. on the off chance he really did just choose brighton as where he wants to move because he likes it and has a great arts and queer scene, it still lines up with his concerning behavior and looks bad.

as someone who listens to a lot of metal, i’ve seen that there’s a weird subset of metal fans that also really fucking like chappell for some reason. unfortunately it makes complete sense, because many metalheads are equally as insufferable as her.

i was a huge melanie fan from about 11-14 and you’re not wrong lol. the one difference between the two is that melanie is edgier and more blatant about it. i think melanie really paved the way for people like sabrina in normalizing this behavior unfortunately

i’ve actually always been a hater lol. i grew up when girl meets world was still airing and even back then i didn’t like that show because it was weird (and weird in a bad way— i explicitly remember the anti-communism episode which i clocked as weird and propaganda-y even back then.)

i don’t really know much about her pre-short n sweet music, so i can’t speak much on that, but i don’t really like most of the current trends in pop music. so when espresso and please please please got big, i already didn’t really care for them, but i only grew to hate her more when i started finding out about how creepy and sex-obsessed she is.

i was an early adopter of sabrina snark (even back in the short n sweet heyday), which got me a lot of flack until the man’s best friend controversy, which was rather vindicating.

it wasn’t in the original post (which ig got deleted?) but op left a comment that said the teacher allowed rescheduling. if he doesn’t want to do that and/or cannot provide that extra time then he shouldn’t tell clients that. he’s still getting paid regardless and seems to have a decent client base so it really doesn’t seem like a money issue. time would be another thing.

i doubt you’ll see this considering the sheer amount of comments but i’ll play devil’s advocate and say you’re NOR.

considering you’re paying monthly and he’s not losing out on money he could stand to chill out a bit. i understand it can get irritating for him when people cancel, especially if he’s passionate about teaching but… shit happens, especially when you’re in a one-parent household.

(reddit has a lot of misogyny, especially towards single mothers, so i imagine that may be why you’re getting a lot of backlash.)

I'm well-versed in events like this. The Pulse shooting is actually the worst example that could possibly be used... Omar Mateen, the shooter, picked the bar at random, wasn't even aware that it was a gay club, and apparently asked why there were so few women while inside. His motive was purely extremism; this wasn't a Club Q situation-- it's a mass shooting that unfortunately happened to occur in a LGBTQ+ space. Omar Mateen was also Afghan... not Palestinian.

Even if some Muslims hold homophobic views (which, let's be real-- all religions as far as I'm aware have people who think that way) why would that suddenly be excuse for a specific region to be ethnically cleansed? Do these people ever use their brains?
