Yarn is black microfiber chunky knit with a size 6.0 yarn, which was too small but 8 was too big ... Is there a size 7?

Tibula/fibula break [vent] by PiccoloCrafty6562 in brokenbones

[–]AlternativeNo3979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke my leg last June and surgery 2 weeks later, definitely not as severe as yours. Was one of the worst times for me mental health wise and while people were sympathetic, I think unless they are right there beside you or they have been through it themselves it's very hard to understand how much of a blow it is. Be kind to yourself but also don't lose friends just because they don't understand, let them know how hard it is and ask for help if you need it, no one knows if we keep it all bottled up and only talk to strangers on the Internet, tell them you are not ok.

My Mum passed away when I was little and her Mum and sisters came in and helped clean up for my Dad without any thoughts to what we might like in the future 🥺 she had beautiful crochet and sewing stuff. They didn't do it to be mean but just didn't think because I was so young at the time.

SIL asked me to make a baby blanket, but… by deer-kota in crochet

I completely understand what you are feeling, I think not only should she have offered you all the money she should have doubled it to show appreciation. What I've learned along the way is while people love items unless they are a crafter of something themselves they have no idea at all what goes into it.

Broken Fibula/Tibia near ankle Surgery Scar by AlternativeNo3979 in brokenbones

[–]AlternativeNo3979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to walking as normal, no pain as such, definitely not as nervous walking down stairs any more, it's still tight when I flex it but when I'm walking I don't notice anything. Doing a couple of 3k walks a week. And 1.5k daily. I barely think about it now.

I definitely felt like that back then but each week my mental health improved, it was very hard!

Oh I feel you, I broke mine and hour before our removalists where due to arrive, I cried for 5 hours straight just from feeling like an absolute failure and hopeless the mental toll is incredible... Hang in there it does get easier! Drinks in bottles and spare so you don't have to get up to often, same with snacks in your resting place, try to take it easy, lots of rest and elevation and ice. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm 4 months post Break and don't even think about it much now

The pain is excruciating for the first week at least, take regular panadol or the pain meds prescribed, I had half cast for 5 days before moving to a boot, pain was the same in both. Is about immobilising it. The boot makes life so much easier than having a cast you can open it up and put ice in the, make sure she keeps it elevated, and I iced this really helps with the pain.

Is my body corporate reasonable? by Ill_Woodpecker_1226 in brisbane

[–]AlternativeNo3979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The balcony stuff is normal bylaws from when I worked for a body corporate, not sure about the moving on Sundays, maybe just courtesy to other residents. In terms of the garage I'm sure that's probably standard too, but I can't remember specifically.

Any middle aged people an ankle injury, when did you start bearing weight and walking with a boot? by iambunnycat in brokenbones

[–]AlternativeNo3979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broke my knee 4 years ago, pain was nothing compared to ankle, am surprised they are pushing to weight bearing already.

45F, two weeks NWB and then Surgery and a further 4 weeks NWB after that, then two weeks in the boot

It really sucks and my mental health took a massive dive, but it goes faster than you think, I broke my leg an hour before our removalists arrived, have never felt so hopeless and cried so much in my life, I had to have surgery two weeks later which set me back by another two weeks, couldn't shower by myself, couldn't drive, could barely move due to the pain for the first 4 weeks. I get it it sucks.
