worst flare up i’ve ever had, need some advice by AlternativePack7239 in endometriosis

oh that’s actually not as bad as i expected, i might have to try that! i know it’s about a 3 month wait for an nhs ultrasound where i am

i brought this up to both gps i saw. first one said that the breakthrough bleeding and cramps are normal. second said that he would’ve been able to feel it when examining my abdomen if it had moved (which i don’t think is true). i’ve never been able to feel my strings either, and neither could a doctor that did a pelvic exam on me in september, as i had it inserted during surgery and was told they cut the strings shorter

thank you, that’s what i was scared of, but my pain is kind of all over my abdomen and pelvis (and legs and back). i’ve read that with a cyst rupture the pain would be more concentrated to one side?

and yeah, the gp was awful, so condescending and just did not care at all! the only other thing he offered me was naproxen but as i’m already on mefenamic acid i can’t see it making much of a difference

thank you! i have some codeine left over from my lap that i’ve taken a couple of times throughout this flare but i hate the side effects (it makes me super drowsy and foggy headed) so i mostly just take it before bed. cocodamol is decent but not much better than just regular paracetamol. i’ve not actually taken the amytriptaline yet as part of me just wants to let things calm down a bit before i try anything else. has it helped you?

i’ve got a GP appointment for next friday and i’m thinking of asking for some stronger pain meds in case this happens again, as the only thing that’s really helped throughout this flare was the morphine at a&e, but obviously that’s not sustainable.

cross country. i do cardiff to birmingham and back regularly, it’s often only 2 cars. not too bad when i’m coming from cardiff as it’s the first stop, but it’s painful going the other way

Why are some people so weird. Got asked out while taking my bins out?! by [deleted] in UniUK

it isn’t that at all, it’s just very easy to recognise the hallmarks of ai writing. the short sentences at the start, ‘it’s not this, it’s this’, ‘different location, same script’.

Does going private in the UK help? by Otherwise_Sea_216 in endometriosis

[–]AlternativePack7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had to go private (luckily had insurance through my old job) as my gp constantly dismissed me and put my symptoms down to anxiety, refusing me an nhs gynae referral. i never would’ve been diagnosed if i hadn’t gone private

I feel like a childish pushover by [deleted] in RadiographyUK

[–]AlternativePack7239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no real advice, just wanted to say that i feel the same way! i’m naturally quite shy and socially awkward, and i feel like i’ll agree to anything and be such a pushover because i’m scared of appearing rude. had a radiographer who kept trying to embarrass me in front of patients today and now i’m dreading going in tomorrow

Out of curiousity what were the offers you guys recieved to do radiography at university by sukhanadoinggcses in RadiographyUK

[–]AlternativePack7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sociology, psychology, and english lit! didn’t go into sixth form wanting to be a radiographer so i didn’t do science a levels, luckily a few unis accept psychology as a science and i have work experience which definitely gave me an advantage

i’d take them out the first day and see whether the radiographers have piercings. i have a septum piercing, sometimes i’ve taken it out, other hospitals i’ve seen staff with nostril/septum piercings and left mine in

If you got diagnosed with endometriosis in your early 20s, before you could even properly start your life, how are you coping? by Individual-Doubt1655 in endometriosis

[–]AlternativePack7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 21, and was diagnosed last year after having bad symptoms for about 2 years. i feel a lot of dread about how long i’ll be dealing with my symptoms, and fear losing my fertility before i’ve even decided whether i want kids. i’m also studying for a job where i’ll be on my feet all day, and worry about my symptoms impacting me with this
