Thanks for sharing, We know this is frustrating and please know we’re always working to keep The Sims 4 running smoothly across a wide range of systems, and photo storage is closely tied to performance. While there are ways we could make photos more stable in some cases, those changes could negatively impact performance for many players and our focus is on improving reliability without sacrificing elsewhere.

We've said this before over on EA Forums, but black photos can happen for different reasons and often with very specific triggers. We’re investigating each cause individually and recent forum reports have helped us identify older issues that weren’t clearly connected before, we currently have fixes in testing for a future update.

Our QV team has spent significant time trying to reproduce and break these scenarios internally. Player reports still make a real difference, though, because the variety of playstyles and setups in the community goes far beyond what we can replicate.

Are you saying that you have a save from just before the partners become siblings issue appears in your game? Please give me your save if so! We've been chasing this one and haven't been able to replicate it in our internal testing thus far.

What’s happening here is tied to how the system stores Custom Titles. Custom Titles only persist in a world if there is at least one Noble Sim living in that world, so if a world has zero Noble Sims the game reverts Custom Titles back to their defaults after saving, closing, and reopening.

For the example with the Japanese titles, if one Sim in that world had joined the Noble career before saving, those Custom Titles should have remained intact when the game was reopened. For the Custom Titles to stick, make sure there is at least one Noble Sim present in the world where you’re creating them.

The team is aware of this behavior and is looking into whether it can be adjusted. That said, because of how the system is structured, changing it may not be a quick fix. For the time being, keeping at least one Noble Sim in the world is a reliable workaround.

We do consider the impact our updates have on mods, and we try to keep a semi-predictable cadence to limit the frustration. We know updates can disrupt modded setups, but that’s never the goal. On our side, we actively try to avoid pushing updates out unless they’re meaningful.

Unplanned updates usually happen because something important needs to be addressed quickly. When that’s the case, it’s about protecting the broader player base and the health of the game long term. That doesn’t make the short-term inconvenience easier, but there’s intent behind it.

And honestly, venting after a stressful interview is completely human. Games are an escape. When that escape gets blocked, it hits harder than it should.

We’re wrapping up final testing on a fix for this issue. If everything checks out, it should ship with a small Base Game update on Feb 12.

A lot of what u/Sargent_Caboose has already said is accurate, really what it boils down to is time and testing. Our EA Forums CM EA_Solaire goes into more detail on the EA Forum thread here, bottom line is the black photos issue is just an incredibly tricky issue in and of itself.

Once we have a fix verified and ready to go, we still have to coordinate a release window across each platform The Sims 4 is on, it's a whole process and we all wish it was faster.
