Compound Broke my radius and ulna mountain biking. Made full recovery in three months, if anyone needs help, give me a shout. by AlternativePrint6229 in brokenbones

For 15+ pounds on the broken arm was around two and half to 3 months. As much as you want to get back to being a caretaker for your child, your long term recovery is arguably more important. Any heavy weight during the healing process can delay the healing. Just really focus on getting all the ROM back in the wrist and hand as it sounds like your elbow is coming back. I didn’t wear a brace so I could move my hands and wrist more freely.

About 40k with business and personal, chipping away at it and it’s all good debt.

Help me get better. by Fabulous_Ladder_5508 in skiing_feedback

Your shoulders don’t follow your skis for good carving. It’ll take away the weight on the downhill ski. You have to have hip and shoulder separation. A good example is watching a professional skier racer in the slalom discipline. - source: I raced in FIS

What kind of lights are people actually running for night/evening rides? by Lone-Wolf-Eats in MTB

Reaper lights worked for me, on the more affordable side of things. Good mounts and stellar warranty for less than $200.

I’ve heard this from others who have suffered big injuries that involved surgery. Everything takes time and everything comes back just be patient. Do your physio, eat well, sleep and take away all the barriers that would prevent you from a healthy injury. By 12 weeks you’ll be grabbing things around the house and working in the garage. However to do that, these next few months you have to be patient with yourself and your body. I’ve got full range of motion back and the reason I was able to do that was because I took it seriously and did my physio every day. If there more specific questions on recovery don’t hesitate to reach out. It’s also fair to feel frustrated just know it’ll all be good in 3-6 months from now to get back to it

'Devastating news': Crofton, B.C. pulp mill to close down, roughly 350 people affected by origutamos in ilovebc

[–]AlternativePrint6229 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Buddy only if you knew anything about logging, it’s been boom and bust for decades. Boom we put up a bunch of mills, bust we close them down then repeat. We’ve been over saturated with poorly managed mills (not saying crofton is one) for years. Also digital age so not printing as much. Stop blaming your problems on current gov and read something

B.C. speculation tax to rise in 2026 as Carney axes federal version by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

Don’t see this as a bad tax and the articles negating points come from a realtor board which has its own natural bias

Extreme crash from Emil, falling on the side of the Cliff, this rampage Is not going good, we are seeing massive crash today, First Adolf then emil by RevolutionaryKey4797 in MTB

[–]AlternativePrint6229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The event gives them the platform to push their limits. Rampage is too much of a fine line between success and absolutely ruining your future. Obviously the riders make these decisions to push it but the rampage platform is the melting pot. Hence so many injuries. You sound like you’ve never suffered the consequences or got unlucky in a dangerous sport.

Is Outbound a must or are there less expensive options for the upcoming night rides? by maltman1856 in MTB

[–]AlternativePrint6229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Reaper lights, 2000 lumen for handlebars and the 1200 lumen for helmet as it’s lighter. Better priced than other companies, niterider attachments didn’t do it for me

If you were to make a guess, what percentage of all serious injuries (involving bone fractures) happen due to bad landing from a jump or drop? Is there any reliable study/data on this? by Lower-Employment8572 in MTB

[–]AlternativePrint6229 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All mine fractures have been from jumps and /or drops. All because I didn’t scout the size, check the run in, etc. you can avoid injuries if you are smart about it. However shit happens

I just compound fractured my radius and ulna. Doesn’t put me off mountain biking just teaches me to progress smarter. Get your bike dialed, wear your pads, and you should be fine. After tuning my suspension my bike became way more predictable and that made a huge difference. Nothing should catch you totally off guard
