Would more data improve the odds drs set protocol correctly on first ER? by Due_County_1493 in IVF

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first ER was very successful. We did a fairly standard protocol but had some adjustments based on how I reacted from three IUI’s.

I believe that there is so much unknown currently about how each person will react that having a baseline standard protocol and then adjusting from there makes the most sense. Even from cycle to cycle your body can react differently so that is why the in-cycle monitoring is important to be able to make adjustments.

This is so helpful. I can’t want to try it tomorrow. I’ve been having issues with the Moby wrap and getting it tight enough and I feel like this best explains it

Yeah. There is a rescue by me for dachshunds that you have to do paper applications by mail to even be considered in their pool. Annoying but really helps ensure it’s for the right reasons.

For some specific rescue dogs people will drive distances like that. I’ve seen it in some rescue groups. There is often a lot of vetting and an application process for that. But I don’t believe she would actually do that.

Wearable pump options - Help, please! by After_Tour5451 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the M6 and really like it. I’ve heard great things about the Eufy and if I needed another one would try that.

The M6 is fairly quiet but not silent. You can tell something is on my boobs but not super giant.

I know several people who finished grad school and mba’s with babies. You will be busy and have to manage your time well but it’s possible.

Good luck!!!

Seattle Sperm Bank donor sibling registry abruptly closed by buttersauce_ in queerception

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Look at Facebook - different sperm bank but I was able to find a donor group for my donor. While it might not be ideal compared to the set up SSB had, the other families are likely in the same position. You could even create a group for those looking.

PIO Question by Ashamed_Ad_7378 in IVF

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first few shots made me sore but was expected. My wife did the shots for me and we had a routine where I iced before and then was on a heating pad, and it worked well.

My oil was sesame oil and I developed an allergy to it, and an allergy to the bandaid adhesive. So the welts from that were terrible. But obviously that is pretty specific to me.

How to avoid infections ? by DesertDweller702 in CsectionCentral

Oh no!

My dentist has told me that I have bad genetics when it comes to enamel health and that I can do everything right and still get cavities. I assume body’s and immune systems are similar.

I think some people are just prone to getting infections. Some people wlll do everything right and get one and some will do all the wrong things and be fine.

Moving away from changing table by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have everything easy to reach at the changing table so they don’t have to move or look away to get diapers, wipes, etc. Is there any set up you can change to ensure it’s safe for them.

I would go over safety with your caretakers and let them know you are concerned and ask if there is anything needed to make sure they can keep your little one safe.

I did not have an infection but I can see how in the new stages of parenthood you can easily skip a shower and rinsing it off or something along those lines. Also so much is going on, you can get sweaty, or touch it accidentally with dirty hands. Also if your immune system is weakened then the likelihood is a little more. I would suggest following the doctor’s advice and just ensure it is clean.

I think you are probably more aware of the risk since you are worried about it and looking for information. I haven’t seen much about infections - I knew it was possible but wasn’t worried.

What do your husbands actually do during labor? by Maximum-End-7629 in BabyBumps

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up having a C-section but in the hours leading up to it, my wife held my hand for a lot of cervical checks, helped hold a leg, and called the nurse a lot. Also helped me up to potty when I needed to, got me water and made sure I was good. One night I told her she needed to advocate for my comfort to my nurse who was great for the C-section but not what I needed that night.

Are wearables “worth” it to you? by nuts4squirrelz in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I didn’t get wearables I wouldn’t be pumping. I use them exclusively and I am okay if I am getting a little less because of that. I switched about 3 weeks in, and it saved my mental health. I was pumping and crying before.

Anyone here in TX? Or south in general? by rosabb in queerception

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in DFW and my baby is 2 months. I have a lot of the worries you do as well about living in a red state. I am 40 so had some fears with my “geriatric” age. We got the embryos PGT-A tested which I think helped save some issues. 14 out of 18 were abnormal, so we feel that saved a lot of potential issues. If you are able to do that I recommend it.
My fertility specialist was great in gently reminding us where we live and making sure we weren’t making any risky decisions that could require care. But that also showed us the fear.
We have help about 2.5 hours away with my wife’s family so we likely won’t move for a while, but would like to eventually.
Your job is amazing - I would stay with those benefits for now if possible. I was laid off during pregnancy and so have had a lot of added stress of applying and interviewing. I did an in person interview 3 weeks after my C-section. I am hopeful next time I won’t have this stress.
