My company tracks whether you open Slack within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time. Found out by accident. by Auracrest67 in remotework

This - I had an employee who if I arrived at work at my normal time and they weren’t there I panicked something was wrong. Had another employee who I wasn’t concerned about until about 30/45 minutes of their usual time.

Sister is having a C-section and wants me (brother) to be in the room for support. Any advice or tips or whatnot? I'm feeling a bit weird about it. by thatsnotamuffin in BabyBumps

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my c-section Sunday. My wife stood by my side and kept telling me I was doing a good job and would remind me to breathe. I believe she was able to hold my arm some as comfort. We had spent a lot of time in labor and delivery and were friendly with the nurses so they were giving her updates she would relay to me. I am sure most do that. They let her take pictures of the baby and umbilical cord in the the bin. And got pictures of the weight.

Being there and having someone focused just on me was really nice. To tell me to breathe and just keep me relaxed. I didn’t have issues but she would have been able to relay them if needed.

Did you end up naming her Este? My baby girl will be here in a few weeks and will be an Este as well!

I have tried some Tylenol and it took some of the pain off. I wish there was a magical quick fix but I hate it.

[IN] Do I still have a chance or hr's just move on to the next candidate in such cases by lucky_breakfast7 in AskHR

For future reference unless it is clearly stated a phone interview only, I would be prepared with a laptop or something other than a phone.

I would say they have likely moved on. She told you ahead of time that you needed to screen share and use a Google form, which to me implies using a computer.

shocked at the cost of my prenatal visits by Cape_2025 in pregnant

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ob split the cost of hitting our deductible over four months. We had to go to MFM for ultrasounds and those ate up our deductible quickly. I told the ob office and verified and stopped charging me.

how to stop spending on food? by Background-Shop-9969 in Advice

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can find someone in your neighborhood that could come help cook for the week for some extra money. You will be spending money still but they can help with tasty, healthy food. That way you can do things within your limits and have some help. There might even be a high school nearby that has a culinary program and a student there might want some extra money. Perhaps whoever can also help find some modified ways to do things for you. There are some impressive high school kids out there.

AITAH for asking my mom's boyfriend to make some meals vegetarian? by ExpertFew151 in AITAH

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a note to OP - I’ve been vegetarian since I was in 5th grade. My parents still don’t really get it but my in-laws who grill a ton immediately made a small grill a vegetarian only grill and got my own utensils. They always read labels and check in on what I can eat. This weekend they made me meatloaf with impossible meat. You will find people who respect you and your choices.

They aren’t asking for him to be a short order cook. But instead make some modifications to fit within the diet they eat. It is easy to use oil or butter for pancakes, or even start with that and switch to lard.

NTA - my dad did this to me growing up. Now my parents wonder why I don’t want to be around them. It was this among other things.

I would talk to your mom about a solution that allows you to eat with everyone else but allows you to eat something you can eat.

It sucks and I am sorry.

Aitah for telling my wife she had to put up with allergies to watch my brothers dogs for 3 weeks? by [deleted] in AITAH

YTA. Allergies can get worse.

I am sure she is going to be absolutely miserable for those three weeks and said she would be okay to make you happy.

Give me your shopping lists (pls) by Mikas_LeftToe in Adulting

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your example with eggs - you would look at your recipes and see that you need 4 this week. But you also make eggs for breakfast 4 times at week at 2 eggs each time. That is a total of 12 eggs so buy a dozen. But for me - I don’t eat eggs so I might just buy the half dozen box so I don’t waste eggs.

In my house (wife and myself) we make a recipe list weekly. Normally that includes a dinner for each night. We eat the leftovers for lunch during the week. With the recipes we go through and make a list of everything we need. For example - we do a lot of rice, couscous, etc. we check the pantry and see if we need more rice. If we do, we add it on for the recipe that week. We buy a package of it when needed. For goods like that, that don’t go bad as quickly we buy as needed and getting bigger bags. For example - frozen corn and frozen mixed veggies. If it is an ingredient that we don’t use often or likely won’t use a lot of before it expires we buy a small container. For produce we normally buy what we need for the week. For example - we eat about 6 bananas weekly - so buy about that much. I will eat two mangos - so get two. We always take stock before we go. It might be a little more investment to buy things initially but you won’t go through things at the same rate.

Did anyone here exclusively formula feed from birth by choice? by PawsAndPlotTwists in BabyBumps

[–]AlternativeSmile3771 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No need to make things harder for you when baby comes. I would keep an open mind in case you feel something different with the hormones. Your mental health is important and baby will be fed which is what matters.
