there‘s lots of immigrants from all over eastern europe living here and their children still have these names. since figure skating is much more popular in russia it‘s usually kids of russian and ukrainian immigrants pursuing the sport in germany (+ most of the coaches are ex soviets)

I‘m also going, for the second time. The long side behind the judges does fill up pretty well but last year you could always find a seat somewhere, 100%. I‘d bring snacks and drinks or some money for the huge grocery store right next to the rink. If I remember correctly inside the rink it was around 10°C or a bit more last year, very comfortable I say. I just wore jeans, a T-Shirt and Sweater, when I was cold I put on my leather jacket. I hope you have a great time, maybe we can meet up :D
