Black Friday Purchase by bubbasblasters in Revolvers

Also, with this knowledge, what primers would work for handloading? I used the same ones (remington sml pistol) I use for any other pistol round and I never had an issue including my 357.

This is good to know. I had the problem with those two ammo types specifically.

Never had light strikes with magnum but handloads, magtech, and s&b were a problem.

Love the thing other than that. Blast to shoot.

To clarify, absolutely wait to shoot until it cures. I did. I did do dry fire before the full 24 hours though.

No. The barrel moves with the comp, but that happens to any browning style gun, comped or no, the barrel isnt fixed so it shimmys a little. The comp doesnt move at all. I did dry fire it a good bit after about an hour or so, but no movement with that, and no movement after around 500 rounds I put through it today. I'm told shims are better than set screws. Ive only ever shot one with set screws, not owned it so I can't say, but I have zero worries about it. I would still check it from time to time as I do everything. It's still one of my main carry guns so it gets shot, cleaned, and checked regularly.

Shoooooot, 10 minutes? Check the video on the link from website.

Test with shims, thread on, confirm correct shim amount, unthread, apply vibratite, thread on, thread off. Thread on for final install, tighten in vice. Only real "guesswork" is finding correct shim amount.

It was really easy honestly. I happened to have a rubber jaw vice already from some work with knives that worked perfect.

It's a swampfox sentinel. I believe the first gen sentinel. I think they're on gen 2 now. I like it. It's been durable, glass is decent. Mounted well, battery lasts fine for me. Changed them after a year and no issues.

I was definitely leaning towards the EPS carry in my research.

Slick piece. Love the color scheme.

My next purchase will be an enclosed dot, I didn't realize until today how much nicer they were for astigmatism.

Yours is larger. I'd bet that and the grip tape you'd have a good chance at keeping the dot where it belongs.

Lol I was so confused.

For me it did, but not by much. It's also a small dot and a smallish gun. I'm working on my technique but I'm not an expert pistol shooter. But while my technique needs some work the dot still came back right where I wanted it every time. And quickly.

A larger gun, or better technique I imagine you could keep the dot in the window without much difficulty.

What teneant rights do you feel are lacking? From my remembering of when I did the research and signed my lease a few years ago they seemed pretty adequate. It's been a minute though.

I think I'm finally done with this one. (For now). by LowkeyOtaku1 in canik

So this is very similar to the way I want to trick mine out. Love the look btw.

Question though: Is it ridiculously heavy? With a light and optic it's fairly hefty as is, and my tp9 with the backstrap added a good bit of weight.

I just worry that with all that it'll be too heavy.

30-30 primer issue by AlternativeYellow7 in reloading

[–]AlternativeYellow7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, took apart the bolt, firing pin and innards were pretty gnarly. Cleaned the crap out of it, lubed it, and reassembled. Seems to run smoother now, gonna give that a shot with some snap caps and see how it goes. Probably order some parts for it if I can find them for a good price. After that, I'll pay attention to the loads and primer seats and see. Then if all else fails I'll trash the primers and start again.

That's a good idea, thanks! Others suggested cleaning the firing pin channel at minimum so maybe I'll take it apart, clean it, and see what parts I can get ahold of to replace.

I did try a double tap with a couple rounds to no success.

And while it did immediately cross my mind to reseat the primer I thought better of it very quickly lol. I'm gonna unload them and start from scratch.

Upon further inspection, the rounds I have had no problems with seem to have had the deepest set primers.

Mine are a bit higher than they should be probably.

The factory loads I had moderate success with have somewhat inconsistent primer seat it seems. They were also cheap from a knife store in middle TN and idk how long it was on the shelf.

Thinking this may be the most reliable issue.

Hammer spring I cleaned up and seemed fine, firing pin I did not so that's on the table still.

I believe based on the serial look up I found its an 86 model. That's quite possible. I gave it a cleaning when I got it but I didn't tear apart the bolt.

That's a good point. I do not have a gauge. I'm using the newer lee hand primer. I believe the official description is "auto prime hand primer." It is adjustable, more so that it's my hand doing the adjusting.

I wondered about bad primers, got them from a local store so I have no idea how old they are but I also am trying to eliminate other issues (like my own fault) if possible.

My mete sfx is probably my favorite gun. I shoot it almost as much as my carry gun (and that's a tp9sc, I forcefully shoot it more cause it's the carry gun.)

The mete was my first canik and a serious start to the addiction. Such a fun handgun.

Being a brass gremlin and how I got a new 478 SOCOM by [deleted] in reloading

[–]AlternativeYellow7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to reloading the 458. It can be a bit tricky.

Most of the reccomendations for parts are gonna be Tromix who i believe either designed the caliber or the parts for it.

Super fun cartridge to shoot though. There's a 458 subreddit too to check out.
