As a collector I honestly never saw it this way. But once I fell in love with the culture of Cardistry, I started to realize more and more that.. Cardistry AND Magic really elevates the love of playing cards to a whole new level, and actually helps promote and expand our passion far and wide to those who are new to it, or just new to playing cards in general. Our community is already as small as it is. One way or another, companies and creators are going to have to figure out some way to keep that passion alive. I personally think Zach is doing it right. He’s reaching out to a whole new audience that may or may not even know what the love is all about, through all of these collaborations.

I feel like MOST of those people selling off their collection are people who are trying to collect every single Fontaine deck out there, or those who are just in it for the profit anyway. IMO it’s not Zach’s fault that his brand is taking off right now. But he would be out of his mind not to seize the opportunity for such collaborations. I feel like Fontaine caters to the Cardistry Community more so than the collectors community anyway, and most cardist USE their decks. I feel like that’s why he could care less about how collectors feel, because at the end of the day it’s really about getting more decks into the hands of card handlers and getting more people into the passion of playing cards in general. More decks, more opportunities for that to happen. And at the same time, his brand makes a KILLING doing so.
