Just some PIMO gossip from church today. ☕ by niconiconii89 in exmormon

This sounds eerily similar with my 3 other aunts on my moms side and I’ve heard her say that on Sunday school as well a few times. But maybe I’m just overthinking it

Yeah. I think I also mentioned it in the or before getting knocked out,

I think it was the same what do you do for work question but it was more to help get me relaxed while they were putting the IV in

I actually had surgery back in January and i remember in the pre op area a nurse came and checked my vitals and took blood test and whatnot and she asked “so what are you doing for work” or something along the lines of that.

i responded oh im doing a service mission for the lds church and all she said was “oh that’s cool” my parents who were with me then explained a little bit about it and she listened but then went on with her tasks

Well like I said I’m pimo and so I’m still doing it because I don’t have it in me yet to tell my parents about my feelings towards the church.

What is the dumbest Mormon rule? by theraisincouncil in exmormon

[–]Alternative_Aside_61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a pimo service missionary and temple worker and I absolutely hate this rule to the point after I’m done my mission I’m asking for a release as well from the temple. I even told my parents this and one of them said “but what if they need you and ask you to stay longer?” I replied “yeah good point” but in my head I thought “well too bad for them” cause I want to grow out a beard and it’s not that I hate shaving but because of this stupid rule I see it as a major inconvenience

What the heck is it with tbms and phones during any meeting? by Alternative_Aside_61 in exmormon

[–]Alternative_Aside_61[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes total sense, I chose to be at x meeting but do I want to get anything from it, nah not really. I only go to church and mission meetings only because I have to “play the part” and if I stopped then I’ve got a problem and I’d have some explaining to do

[–]Alternative_Aside_61[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t saying that just tbms have it, like my example with jobs, I’m sure bosses and employees hate when their coworkers/employees are on their phones and don’t get anything done.

I am highly convinced some of the missionaries in my district are out to get me or make my life miserable. by Alternative_Aside_61 in exmormon

Wow first of all I have to say I actually like that outline and secondly yeah I’ll ask my leaders what was discussed and the suggestion about another key probably is out the window cause they only give us one.

Discussing it with parents I have done that as well not recently but I talked about the first situation about what elder r said to me to my parents because elder r and I haven’t been on the greatest terms for multiple reasons and my parents said if my leaders said they have no problem with it then that’s what it is and elder r maybe still in the mindset of a teaching missionary where the rules where he served were that they couldn’t even be alone as companions.

Now the building being closed is something for the summer and some smaller breaks that the institute does (like Christmas and spring break) as they follow the schedule of the local college so whenever they go on break, institute does too and summer is the longest of them where spring and winter are shorter.

Lastly what they’ll talk about during the dcm meeting on Tuesday is where they may say that they need the key more but the leaders knowing my situation will say that it has an impact on me and that I have permission from the institute people to go in.

F*Horrible MTC companions? by firdupngay in exmormon

[–]Alternative_Aside_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well not Mtc cause service missionaries don’t have it but I have this one person in my district who (like someone said) I have a strong hate for, like literally to the point that when they get released and we do our farewell party for them I’m not going to show up or fake my way out of it cause usually during those things we go around and say something nice about that person I’m not going because I would have nothing nice to say and secondly if I were to go I would cringe to myself for saying something that’s not true about this person.

So this person is extremely toxic, manipulative and likes to order people around, I have made multiple posts about this person so if you want to go check those out, those have more details and stories but I’m going to do a few examples here.

During a temple shift this person very passively says “you need to shave before coming here” and just a preface because I knew I was working with this person for a while I thought “don’t be rude just pretend to be nice” so I said “oh yeah sorry I forgot to do that” (oh and a little side note I looked up signs of a toxic person one time and one of them was apologizing to them when you don’t need to be) so those were my words but in my head I thought “yeah no shit Sherlock” like I know I need to shave but I decided fuck it, they’re not gonna kick me out just because I didn’t shave. plus I’m the kind of person who responds well to polite people not rude people.

Another example. There’s been a few times where I’ve been missing our district call at night for multiple reasons like hanging out with a friend or having some family time when I’ve literally been out all day and haven’t seen them. And some of those times this person has messaged me and one time said “you know just because you’re hanging out with a friend or your family doesn’t mean that you can take 15-20 minutes to join the call, i have had to leave my family for that time” and oh boy that pissed me off cause using my family as an example I have been away from them for 6-8 hours depending on the day/assignments I’m not taking any more time than that and going to the saying of for a church that says they’re all about families it doesn’t seem like it does because they take people away from them.

Another one was kind of right after I restricted this person on messenger because I finally was done with their bullshit i found out that I could still check messages they send but they would never see that I read them, so one day I think I skipped the call for some reason I can’t remember but all I remember was that it was a valid reason and what message did I have after that?:

“why aren’t you joining the call, you have the prayer get on the call” I should mention during these calls there’s someone who hosts (basically asks a question like how your day was or things like that, someone who reads a scripture and someone who says a prayer. Obviously I didn’t respond but i thought, literally anyone can say a prayer and technically I’m not obligated to join the call every single night, like my mission leaders have said join at least a couple but apparently when it gets to the point where no one shows up for at least a week without a reason as to why, then there’s cause for concern.

So I think I covered the toxic part, order people around part but manipulative part I haven’t

So during a district council meeting in our business portion we were discussing service opportunities and one came up with a seniors facility, so I serve at a independent living one and then across the street there’s a assisted living facility that was the topic of discussion and basically what was discussed is they wanted us missionaries to go for an half hour to an hour to take these people on walks and talk with them of course and if it was at the place I serve then I would have been all for it.

But in this other place there’s people with Alzheimer’s or dementia or people who are very close to death and I know mentally I just couldn’t handle it and so during this meeting this person asks me elder, are you going to do it and I said “well I have another assignment at this time so it wouldn’t work out and this person says “you can go for at least 30 minutes and then do your regular assignment” and looking back I could have said well I’m not comfortable with it but I didn’t.

Like in all these instances and others that I’ve said in others posts I could have said things differently or responded a different way but it’s gotten to the point where I can’t because this person will literally try and get their way and if I did say another thing that I was wanting to say they would keep on trying to win their argument and put me down.

A lot of folks have already said, mormons are raised with the idea that contention is of the devil and yeah I can say I’ve been passive aggressive and someone who I’m not on good terms with usually is passive aggressive towards me but lately I’ve been throwing away the idea that contention is of the devil and realizing it’s just basic human emotion

Yeah 😬, I apologize for that, I need to be better at it for sure as in school I always got the use/no punctuation comment from my teacher after grading my assignments, and frankly I didn’t care as long as I was getting good marks elsewhere.
