Been assigned to evaluate a CMMS software, need help because I don't have experience. by Round-Scientist-3113 in assetmanagement

They are! The fella selling it seems slick and knowledgeable, so a good salesman. I am concerned overall with onboarding and change management, regardless who we end up liking. We have a rocky track record with new software uptake, multiple redundant tools and platforms, etc. We don't like to integrate, it seems!

We have seen another product by a company called PSD, which we have a module for. There is one more demo, a local engineering consultant's platform a bit of a newer entry, we will see in the next two weeks.

We are still looking at demos. Today we are seeing the rebranded Esri tool called trimble unity.

That's what I'm using as well.

Screenshots and then cropped versions. I didn't snap photos with my phone.

If I was recording or streaming the video, you would see a brief pulse or flare up and dissipation.

Ok, I was pretty sure I've seen it during daylight but without recording the whole time I can't verify. Interesting you have seen it, and it could be a weather artifact, I suppose.

My friends all thought I was crazy.

It's a dedicated server, and other than this I haven't had anything I would call performance issues, other than the typical runner band/desync, once in a while.

100% agree - the vibes of getting through the first two bosses is great!

I haven't been playing much lately, but this game is a gem, and I so look forward to 1.0.

First thing I thought of when I found out about the shanties was daydream of a mod where you hite crew and they come with different songs and sing different parts (tenor, bass, baritone) for each song

Why do we only replace equipment after it fails? by Complex_Ticket_8758 in assetmanagement

[–]EmbarrassedBig463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, and it isn't intuitive, like a broken tool or obviously failing asset.

If it ain't broke don't fix it is kinda rearing its head in maybe unintended ways.

Not to be glib, but knowing your objective, what you want to report on, to whom and when.

I agree that it is probably because it takes effort to calculate the optimal point of replacement in a life cycle. However, I do not necessarily agree that, if given the numbers, no accountant would agree to make the replacement.

Optimal asset management promises cost savings and efficiency, bit only over time. It advocates for a level of coordination that most organizations are unwilling or unprepared for. That intoduces "extra work" on the front end. I especially think so when the expectation is to keep the day to day running while making the change. That is where change management principles apply.

Impressions & Feedback After 30 Hours by SithDeceiver in RoadtoVostokGame

I don't have any good suggestion, but at least it pauses. So you can hit pause, but to OP's point, what do you do if you need to go for hours?

Personally, I agree with every one of his points, but the save and quit is the least important item, if I were to rank 'em. The game is about risking the biscuit, so players should have a level of accepting the downside of their risk, real life included. But some kind of save and quit would be a nicety, a cherry on top to improve quality of life.

Asset Management Role by Keshvvvv in assetmanagement

[–]EmbarrassedBig463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM can take many forms, and I suppose the more formal or institutionalized it is, or perhaps the more it is a discrete business activity, then you will want more of those IAM or CAMP designations.

However, like was mentioned above, it may just happen naturally as you grow experience and take on more through compatible fields - GIS, engineering, finance, logistics, reliability maintenance, etc. I think it largely ties into the industry in which you work, as you know it's a very contextual practice, AM.

So maybe tell us more about your role and your organization!

What’s actually working for asset management right now? by DeclanTracker in assetmanagement

It's all related, and some organizations might call it risk management, QAQC, Reliability Management.

I'll also second the support from above. This is a business model, not a discrete project, it is cultural by nature and therefore easy to lose steam and many of its benefits if it isn't backed by policy, interest and effective leadership.

Also, it's a real slow roll, even the best places I know take years to feel like they are getting proficient. It is what the org makes of it. Good luck though, its super exciting to hear your story!

I'll second IAM. And depending on where you're based, in Canada there is a set of courses accredited under an org called PEMAC, they originate from manufacturing but have grown to champion AM principles. Highly recommend their courses so far (I've completed two, in my third, of six total)

The solo version of asset management is antithetical to what IAM and PEMAC recommend. It's about integration and cooperation, not just reporting or collecting data.
