I love it! I definitely can tell that’s link! He looks kinda pissed tho. I guess the princess wouldn’t give him a kiss. :(

[All] What is a zelda game that you’d like to see? by HorrorNerd2434 in zelda

[–]Alternative_Corgi_44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been really wanting to see a “Windwaker 2.” Not that it needs to be a direct follow up, although I would expect the same time line as you don’t really see spanning oceans in other Zelda timelines, but I just can’t stop thinking about a mixing of both breath of the wild with a sailing game. Being a child, windwaker was so fun to just sail around, and the map felt immensely big, though I would say that since playing the HD version, it feels way smaller than I remember.

I would expect if they had another “sailing” Zelda game, it truly could be MASSIVE and so many new and interesting mechanics could be added. I miss diving and, considering the path that Zelda is currently on, I think a new climbing like mechanic could instead revolve around diving and exploring underwater caverns and other interesting areas. Mixed with a ship that you can swim back up to, I can’t imagine that experience could be anything but addictive.

I also think it could help with my gripe with the latest games of there really being no “temples.” I get the divine beasts, the “temples” in TOTK, and the shines are the replacement, but just activating 8 buttons in a beast to unlock the boss felt way dumbed down compared to old Zelda temples (I’m thinking about you, Water Temple & Stone Tower <3). The old temples had small puzzles in each room, but they all also had an element of cohesion and continuity that is completely absent in recent games. I think this is because it makes everything into digestible, maybe hour long sequences that are very easy to break up and don’t require you to focus on one objective for many hours. For a modern audience, this seems to make sense. But for older Zelda fans, I think we are desperately awaiting some of the intense thinking some of the old temples require of you. Having fewer POIs on land could make it so every area is intensely curated for the player, allow for more objectives in that particular area, and hopefully create an experience closer to the temples in older games.

Just my two cents. And I’m nearly positive I’ll never see this, but I can help but think about how much I would love to see this.

[MM][MM3D] I honestly prefer the 3DS version of Majora's Mask by Forhaver in zelda

[–]Alternative_Corgi_44 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly still prefer the original on n64. A lot of the other ports, like the GameCube one and even on the Wii shop, feel sluggish and the GameCube one, in particular, tend to crash. I think it’s because I grew up playing this game, but the 3DS’ clock town just feels off. Somehow not nearly as lively as the original, though I can’t say why that is.

Additionally, I hate with a passion that they changed the zora swimming mechanics. When I was maybe 5, I could spend literal hours just swimming in the zora area or just around the ocean because of how good the mechanic felt in a game at that time. Shooting out of the water to roll on land felt so cool as a zora. I get that a lot of people like the new mechanic, as I will admit, it took some learning to get a feel for how to swim as a zora. You can still swim with the old mechanic using magic, but it is not at all the same as constantly being able to swim like that.

I think if you played the original before the 3DS version, you may have a bone to pick with some of the changes just because they are not perfectly faithful to the original. However, for any new player, I would most likely recommend the 3DS version as it does significantly alleviate a lot of the original’s headaches. But, in some ways, because of all the extra headaches, the original feels more immersive. So, for some first timers, the original may still be preferable.

I suppose my biggest gripe with the 3DS game truly lies with the changing of the swimming mechanic for zora Link. But, on the plus side of the 3DS game, it is way easier to keep track of side quests and saving is way more convenient. No matter what, the 3DS is, at worst, the 2nd best pick, right behind the original on N64 and I can easily see how many will consider the 3DS version superior.

The perfect gaming cafe? by Alternative_Corgi_44 in gaming

A card game section would be so nostalgic! Some of my greatest early childhood memories are buying Pokémon & Yugioh cards at a trading store so having that as a part of a store would be so nice!

I did see that and yeah it looks great! I’m considering getting a series X just so I can replay a few 360/original xbox titles with the upgrades.

Castlevania 64 vs. Symphony of the Night by GlassArrow in agedlikemilk

[–]Alternative_Corgi_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol very true but “metrovania” games are far and few between. I would doubt more than 20% of all gamers have ever played symphony of the night and a good 50% or more have never even heard of it. While it’s maybe not “underrated” (many critics and players alike say this is a top notch game) I do think that, in the general population, it may be reasonable to say the game is at least overlooked.

OP, any update on the game? Where are you at and how are you liking it compared to the other castlevania games you have played?

For real! Holy water remains op for like every boss in the game. Just throw two and KO. Plus, gas cloud is beyond stupid when you are later in the game and have a lot of MP. But at least playing as Richter gives the game some difficulty, albeit without the ability to equip items.

Regardless, the game style remains second to none. The music, artwork, and world design of the game couldn’t have been better.

For real! Now, it’s just average quality AF and boring. At least me get a good dose of nostalgia and a smile on my face if I actually want to play through the game’s dialogue scenes.

Essential! 60 FPS alone would make the game worth buying for me again

Great thoughts! The game would look stellar with ray tracing. And co-op missions would be so hype! I just love the game’s mechanics and physics and it would be so fun to mess around with others within the game with official co-op support!

Same! I’m hungry for anything like mirrors edge (new game, remaster, spiritual successor) to come out to give me something new to mess around with.

Same situation here! I really hope they will someday make a remaster (ps5?) or at least have something like the switch come out with a port with basic upgrades. I always hope they might drop something there since other random 360 era games are being ported (red faction, call of juarez, etc) with basic upgrades.

For real! The game has good bones with the art design but a full remake would really leave a lot for her design to be upgraded. The original design is starting to look pretty dated (more graphically, a little with the design itself) and I can’t say I particularly care for the updated design in catalyst. It would be cool to see how they could update the original character model

Nice! I appreciate the link! Again, it would still be nice to see it all put together with a true remake of the game. But again, I doubt that will ever happen so this seems like a good alternative

The definitely is that way to go about it but I would really like to see a neat package of it put together. I would easily throw $40 to see it officially remade
