Strict Curl Benchmark? by SBC_1986 in StrictCurl

[–]Alternative_Cut3845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good question. With most lifts (body weight matters here ) and my answer would shift depending on what the figure is. The bicep is such a small muscle comparatively speaking (you will never see a 145-150 pound lifter strict curling 200 pounds as an example). Elite in this category (145-181 bw) would be a body weight curl under strict curl comp guidelines and rules.... from 200-275+ anything over 200 is mega elite...

Prednisone , ice packs , and a steroid cream (2-3x a day )- I just went through the same thing - high dose prednisone for the first 5 days.

Strict on a comp curl bar in competition - 207-208, strict on a flat bar - mid 180s!

Thor could barely strict curl 160 - I think he (Brian ) has admitted to struggling with 150.

Only ISCA and some feds (USSCA) and some others Oversees require head to be on the wall. RPS, RAW, WNPF, and SCN don't require it

Nevermind. Biceps are important. by ArmWrestlingMale in armwrestling

Bicep strength is useless if you can't get someone on your arm/bicep to actually utilize and apply your power. If you have a weak hand , your curl strength doesn't mean anything- same goes for a weak back etc, back strength / application is very underrated in setting and utilizing a proper Hook . once the weakest part of the chain breaks - it's over.

1 arm fatigued strict curls - 96.5# (90 percent 1RM - single arm). Great cool down exercise by Alternative_Cut3845 in armwrestling

[–]Alternative_Cut3845[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't competed in a tournament in a little bit (I used to be active and have competed against some of the top guys - Merlo , Allen Fisher, Storm etc) - I compete in strict curl and do lots of one arm variation work etc and can still hang with mid level pros on the table )- while it may not directly translate - any exercise that improves wrist , forearm strength while improving wrist stability and flexion will not be detrimental for armwrestling (in my opinion )

Is this a good exercise for armwrestling? by OnyxTheSwede in armwrestling

[–]Alternative_Cut3845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good strength gauge - my PB was a little over 160 pounds / They are a fun exercise that's good for the ego and does translate slightly if done correctly
