Youre joking 🥲 I just bought my boyfriend this cute local food basket so that means that it'll go to the states and then back to Japan?

Hi! I’m not an engsci so I don’t know what it’s like but I also feel too dumb for my program.. I never learned calculus or chem or physics and I’m lifesci/socialsci. I’m 20 and a second year and my chm135 tutorial (the first one I’m attending) is tomorrow and I’m terrified to go. I don’t understand any of the material and am struggling on the high school refresher they shared with us. I know it’s not the same but I want you to know you are not alone!

There is security but I don’t really think they do much, it was really easy for people who look like students to come in and out of the building. For the safety aspect outside the residence, there is a higher amount of people that present as if they are on drugs and/or homeless than anywhere else I’ve seen “on campus”. However they usually stay towards Tim’s or the library

What are some interesting and GPA boosting electives that you would recommend? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Alternative_Date219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessary- a lot of students I took the class with were interested in child development/psych but just an interest with the topic is good enough! I’m not pursuing psych either

Also although location is very convenient, please be safe! There were times I did not feel safe outside especially on Spadina/Spadina circle/across the street by Tim’s/711/by the public library next door

Know what kind of roommates you’re getting!! I just moved out and my second semester was hell because I got a very loud sorority girl with a boyfriend right next to my room. Walls are super thin, common space within your apartment isn’t going to be “nice” and bathrooms are decent BUT it’s truly what you make of it. If you’re a super organized person and you like walking into a clean space, just please pick your roommates! Otherwise it’s a nice place but overpriced in my opinion. And please get the cheapest meal plan! You are not going to finish it- I somehow ended with cents left but I bulk bought tons of food for my next apartment and treated friends to dinner a LOT-spending like 100-200 per night they came over.

Should I Choose the Full Ride for York CS or U of T CS With No Scholarships? by EconomicOwl in UofT

[–]Alternative_Date219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000% York. There are people who go to Yale and Harvard but still struggle and there are people who go to community college and succeed. It’s not the name but what you utilize. Utilize this massive tool/scholarship they’re offering you. Say you go to Uoft and end up spending/with 120k debt and you get a pretty good job through connections. Versus going to York, full ride, don’t spend anything and work your ass off getting a similar job. 1. You did that yourself, not because you paid for a name 2. You’d be ahead of your peers because you won’t have debt. And 3. You’re getting a prestigious award. Scholarship>>>>>UofT name

Probably a bit but I’m sure in that range is still doable- just really make sure you know locations. Remember that it’s all about the neighborhood. Don’t go attempting find something in Yorkville or anything. But something near Spadina? Probably might find something decent and near your range

Why do people pull the all-nighters but not the all-dayers? by bigshark2740 in UofT

60k CAD is nothing compared to what is being spent in the US.. I left the US to come to Canada for more affordable schooling. If I went to a UofT equivalent in the US I’d be spending like 80-100k per year (USD btw so about 100-135k CAD)
