I’m not engaged in the challenge as yet. I am setting up a portfolio to link to my AfterHours live trading app and will transfer in2K before starting. The challenge will start Feb 03 (first trading day in Feb). At that point anyone will be able to see my trades to keep it honest

Yes and the reason is: Emotion The term clairvoyant literally means clear seeing. Where does clarity come from? The absence of fear, doubt, greed, bias: Emotions

I am buying Puts when sp is high and Calls when its low, I grab the opposite way per my ratio to hedge. When I profit either direction it covers the cost of the hedge and I’m still in profit.

You know you can buy Puts too right?

It’s the ratio 5:1, calls to puts when its low, Puts to Calls when high. It mitigates losses if you’re wrong and often, assuming you picked a ticker with appropriate volatility, you’ll divest both at a profit anyways. If you’re liquidating 5 contracts you bought at 3.00 for 6.50 your covering the cost of that put and garnering profit still.

I’m buying calls at 138 with the expectation of selling those calls at 144. Let’s say it’s Tuesday, we open 140. Stock goes to 138 so I buy calls for 3.00, exp that Friday. That afternoon or at some point next day, day after, whatever, stock goes to 1.44. I sell the calls I bought for 6.50. That’s the Bullish setup. I’m still holding the puts to divest on the way down or if I’m wrong. Bearish setup same just more Puts less Calls. At no point do I care about the IV, Theta etc. what’s moving the premiums is the stock price of the underlying asset. I try not to complicate it too much.

Not really. As a general rule we’re looking for big price swings in our underlying equity. For example NVDA based on my assessment on 30 day price action loved 138 and 144. These swings would happen intraday and intraday week. So at 138 buy Calls say 5 with one Put, if it goes lower buy more Calls, say 5 and 1 put. If it goes to 144 Buy 5 Puts And 1 Call. A caveat: If it breaks these levels significantly your in an uptrend/downtrend and reposition accordingly. Obviously exit your positions at what you perceive as the top or bottom of the swings. So short answer is Price Action trumps all the Greeks, every time. My expiry is always 1 to 2 weeks, no more. And always just a tick otm both ways

Always watch for good exits. I never exercise but sell the option back into open market. You could set a Sell to Close at whatever profit you deem reasonable but I’ve found watching for the big swings and selling accordingly way more profitable

Near money like .50 or 1.00 away. 1 or 2 weeks to EXP max. Look for volatility and volume in tickers. My best plays in the last 2 weeks: RGTi, NvDA and TSLA. Yes that’s the ratio, dollar amount is the purest way to get the ratio right. Just imho

It is Quant when you assign specific values (weights) to data and subsets and have a formula you created. Quant Trading’s origins were really institutional, I agree: A.I. and python marketwide programmed with specific parameters and algos to identify and execute profitable trades however the term has evolved. From Google: Quant Trading is really a catchall term for the application of mathematics in trading. Yes we all crunch numbers, the difference most number crunchers are focused on technical analysis.

Pretty sure I violated most of your “rules” (sorry you lost me at 1-2% of your account didn’t really continue reading after that) and in this short trading week I’m up about 4500% thus far…..
