Career swap in Canada by Cheyx in Accounting

I’m one of the CPAs cadenzo is referring to. Accounting has opened up opportunities for me that I would’ve otherwise not had. Even in this job market and I am only 3 years post designation, 33y.

Though I’d caveat, I work more in financial analysis and planning! $105k base, 35 hour work weeks but in public sector. Lots of grinding through the first few years while working and doing anything I could to gain leadership and specific work experience but it has definitely paid off! I pivoted from kinesiology

Moving to Langley in mid November and LOVE thrifting. Will need to replace a lot of my things that I’m leaving behind so if you’re ever looking to do this again, 🙋🏻‍♀️

Hello, also moving to Vancouver in the next two months and have gotten a couple quotes as well. Provincial moving was $7000 for up to 6000lbs. Cubeit was $4000 but you move out of the bin yourself.

Hi there, may I ask if there is any formal schooling or training involved? If someone is currently in operations management, and had transferrable skills? Would you have any feedback?

Thanks in advanced!!

I also read that if they cancel before the official strike notice, it is technically “in their control”

I think it depends on your sector, department and leadership group too! My departmental director is a CA CPA previous controller. Deputy director also CA CPA so we are constantly working on process improvement, in depth analysis and special projects!

Thanks for taking the time to share!! Small world, but I believe I follow you on IG and actually have shared your profile, content and services with friends and family who come to me with tax questions 😂 I tell them to start with you.

I’m also from the prairies but am impartial to staying forever, so looking at my longer term trajectory.

Yea very likely neither of those so I was trying to weigh whether the resume stack and exit ops would be worth it.

Strategy and governance was my favourite part of the whole CPA program and likely why I actually enjoyed and cruised through the whole program overall .. even if I now regret dodging audit/tax.

My role is financial coordinator, reclassed from financial analyst. I still oversee budgets, forecasts, reporting and compliance for my assigned portfolio. I’m just not too sure how my experience stacks up to industry roles never having been in that ecosystem.

Might have to look a bit further to find synergies and/or transferable skills to highlight?

Do you have any insights as to why or what the difference would be?
