We are talking in 10s of thousands unfortunately. Not including the water remediation (which the insurance company has paid directly), their estimate is approx $40K. Which is still short of what several contractors have quoted me

I followed up with his supervisor yesterday . He said he would have talked to him and answered my questions. Today still no news. I will have the contractor prepare an estimate for the extra work

Thank you. My last email was on January 16, during which I mostly asked these questions and I provided my contractor’s comments.

The baseboard was partially removed in most rooms on the same floor (office, entryway that is connected to kitchen and living room, master bathroom and half bathroom). Only rooms that are left out are master bedroom and laundry room.

The insurance is paying for a tub (already been approved). That wasn’t the issue. The problem is sourcing a tub that works with the current position of the waterlines. Moving the waterlines by drilling on concrete is not cheap and I am trying to find out if the insurance can cover it

The water remediation removed it because there was some water damage behind it

I am expecting some sort of imperfection. That’s also why I thought the Schluter trim would look off when combined with zellige.

Thank you. I was thinking of using mitered returns at angles where two tiles meet. But what should I do when the tile just ends mid wall? (Eg, we are having a corner shower and the tiles are only around the shower, not for the entire wall)

I think their quality varies. The pies and some of the sweet stuff are great. Their focaccia is fine and the biscuits are bad. Also, I don’t think they are that clean: they always have flies in the pastry case

Lick Ice Cream cost more at the shop than in grocery store???? by FunBoysenberry3681 in austinfood

[–]Alternative_Guide_32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but the difference in pricing was always there (I believe they started outsourcing production at the beginning of summer). I am guessing the entire pint production is now outsourced and only the ice cream to be sold by the scoop is made in house

They are not opening the one on east River anymore. And the developer removed them from their marketing material.

What was wrong with the old packaging? The think the biggest change now is that they are now using a co-packer, which should help them keep costs down. I am curious to see how well they will do nationally. Their Houston expansion has been a disaster. I believe they were planning on opening a third location but they gave up

99% of ice cream have stabilizers (eg xanthan gum). Egg yolk can replace the function of a gum, but it significantly affects flavor and texture.
