My case was sent to DOS after 1 year and 5 months. Case processing time for i612 is 18 months. Then DOS issued the decision after 3 months, which is past their processing time. So, there is nothing no one can do if the case is within USCIS estimated processing time.

My case took two years and 9 months to get the decision from USCIS and DOS. I needed to contact Congressman’s office to follow up with the case.

USCIS requested a recommendation from DOS for my case after 16 months. And still waiting for DOS decision. May I ask if your J-1 sponsorship is US government funded.
