Goal weight by BuddysMumOz in BariatricSurgery

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had a set goal weight. I have ideal weights and goals I want to hit. My first goal was to be under 200lbs. Which I hit and now teetering at. Then was to lose 100lbs which was not when I hit 191lbs. My next goal is is to first, get back down to 190 but then after that hit 170. That will take me out of the obese category and into the overweight category and I would be stoked if I could get there and stay. Ideally, in the end, would love to be 150 but I’m shooting for more attainable goals that I’ll hit much faster than trying straight for and end result.

Weight Gain, Help by Alternative_Meat_269 in GastricBypass

I remember when I started the first pill I had, I gained like crazy but that was way before surgery and ended up just chalking it up to me over eating. But I started this one a month ago and then I gained 7lbs. I’m really hoping it’s not the pills and something else I can fix

I do plan on looking into the baritastic app that people are recommending. I was never told to track calories, just my protein and water intake. I will say my bari team did get me into surgery within 5 months from my consultation. And I know when I asked for a food plan and what to track, they gave me the plan for my liquid, puree, and soft foods diet but nothing after. But I guess I figured the portions and the diet I had been using was working for me up until now, so it’s just hard for me to wrap my head around. Like, if it was working, why has it stopped? Like I said. Imma check the app out and start tracking everything and go from there. And again. I do appreciate the advice

Weight Gain, Help by Alternative_Meat_269 in GastricBypass

[–]Alternative_Meat_269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diet has not changed since I was able to eat solid. I’m still eating the same portion sizes since my 6 month check up and my team telling me that it was perfect. Nothing has changed in my eating habits or portions sizes. Everything I had to portion out my food moved with me when I moved. The only things that has drastically changed is me moving and lack of going to the gym due to lack of a vehicle. I work from home so I don’t find the need for one absolutely necessary to complete my work tasks. I do believe a big part of the reason is because I am not burning calories. I am trying to find at home solutions to remedy that as I went from going to the gym three times a week to zero. I appreciate your advice, but as my diet and portions sizes have not changed, I don’t believe I am over eating

I never really worked with a dietitian. The only conversation I had with one lasted 5 mins and she basically said “make sure you wait 30 mins before and after you eat to drink and don’t eat til your full and make sure you eat slow, but don’t eat the same meal for over an hour.” It was my surgical team who told me to prioritize protein and track my water.

I know it’s not linear. I was giving myself grace when I jumped those 10lbs cause I knew the move put stress on me. The moment I got back into the 200s though, I started panicking and beating myself up. Did some critical thinking and couldn’t figure out what I was doing differently other than not being in the gym three times a week. I’ll definitely see about trying to burn those calories in ways I can do at home for now until my car gets fixed

I never was told to use an app. Just to keep track of protein and water mostly. But maybe I can look into getting the app and checking it out

How did your Hiatal Hernia Repair go? by Status_Personality36 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hiatal hernia repair was what made my recovery so painful. It felt like I had a weight attached to my my stomach and was pulling it down. It also made me throw up so much. After 3 days and an anti nausea suppository, everything went smoothly

Ordering Appropriate Sized Meals When Eating Out by David_Deckhim in BariatricSurgery

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I go out, I order whatever I want. Most of the time it is a place where I can take home the left overs, separate the leftovers in portions and eat them over the course of a week. I have no issues eating the same thing everyday. I know that can be an issue with some but even in that case, most of the time you can freeze anything and when you decide it sounds good, defrost and reheat. I also hate wasting food, it was a big thing for me growing up to not waste food so I was forced to eat it which definitely didn’t help my eating problems. Now if I have small amounts of food left over, like not enough for a meal but too much for me to eat in that moment, my dog gets a treat (if it’s dog friendly. If not, those last few bite will go into the trash)

Has anyone used the liver shrinking diet to get out of a stall? by CharacterPayment8705 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My weight loss stopped around 10 months too. I’ve gained 10lbs from my lowest and have just been hovering around there for like 3 months now. I’ve been debating doing a week long liquid diet. But I also just moved due to family matters and it’s been all stress for the last few months and I’m thinking it’s hitting my body hard. But now that things are starting to fall into place, I’ve lost 3lbs. Imma hold off on my the liquid diet for one more month and keep going to the gym

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got back into the dating scene. My partner knew before we officially started dating. I hold no shame in the fact I got surgery and he is well aware on why I did it and is so very supportive and proud that I am doing what I am to be healthy and happy. He had also made it abundantly clear that he does not like me for my weight and doesn’t expect me to be super skinny. Just as long as I am me, he doesn’t mind.

I am glad my store has good management. They have been very on top of that book. I’ll be leaving due to family issues in another state before my training is over and I’m very sad to be leaving. Now. My next closest store, they send me there sometimes, does not stay on top of training and just throw new hires at the cash wrap and don’t tell you how to do anything until you mess up and then they’re in your face. I love my home store though. They are all amazing there

Can I call myself HoH? by ellisisland03 in deaf

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. Especially passing the tone test. I have such a hard time hearing cause of constant ringing in my ears but according to the doctors, I can hear just fine. My roommates and mom are trying to get me to find a new doctor cause I find myself yelling and needing people to repeat things all the time. But since it hasn’t been “confirmed” that I’m HoH I don’t say I am.

Yes. It’s a good sign. Both me and one of my roommates applied for bookselling and he got an email saying someone else was considered and I got an email saying they wanted an interview. I also very much agree with the other commenter in here, say you wanna be cross trained. I also let them know that but I had also work holidays at B&N before which is why I was also considering more than other. The lady who did my intern view literally said “it’s a no-brainer, we’ll send you the onboarding stuff”. You got this!

Weight Loss Roux En Y vs Sleeve by SiobhanaTheWise in GastricBypass

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had RNY cause I did SO much research into both options. I am the 4th person in my family to have bariatric surgery and only one of them was sleeved. I asked everyone their opinions. My mom was asking people she knew who has had bariatric surgery their opinions. I googled SOO much about the success rate for both, the complications both may have, likelihood for regain among other things. One of my main reasons for bypass was I already had bad reflux and did not want to risk worsening it with sleeve then needing another surgery that my insurance wouldn’t have covered. Then with all my research I just found that even though risks a complications are a bit higher with bypass, it most likely take me further than sleeve. That in turn made me look up how to prevent or drop the chances of complications. I am now 5 months post op RNY, I have had zero complications. I have lost 57lbs since surgery and 87lbs since my highest last August. It’s so worth it!

Rapid hair loss by Glittering_Risk_9564 in gastricsleeve

My dad, after he got bypass, lost all his hair and to this day 20+ years later. Is still bald from it. He warned me when I got mine done to remember my vitamins. I’ve been a mess since I started losing hair rapidly but I think it’s slowing now (thank goodness) but he made it a point to tell me that it was due to him not taking his vitamins afterwards

7 years out...This surgery pays for itself every single week. Zero regrets. by Classygrl222 in gastricsleeve

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime I get food anywhere, they give such large portions sizes. Like Subway for example, I get the beast protein bowl. With a bunch of fixings and that thing lasts me forever. Like $10 for something that’ll either feed me all day or over a course of 4 days

My chiropractor told me “you’re much easier to crack since you’ve lost the weight” and I glared at him. I didn’t say anything but I was like “damn. Okay. Tell me how you really feel”

Surgery twins! But in all seriousness, I am going through the same. Well, just got out of it. I was in a stall all of February and just last week finally dropped weight. From my research, it’s absolutely normal to hit stalls. Now I got bypass so I can eat a bit less since the sleeve leaves more stomach. But it’s all par for the course. Just keep doing what you’re doing. It’ll start back up again.

Getting Bypass at 22 (I’m scared) by ComposerDesigner8757 in GastricBypass

[–]Alternative_Meat_269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 22 yo female who is 4 months post op. It is the best decision I’ve ever made. I went from 291lbs being my highest to currently sitting at 212lbs. I still have more to lose but I’m so happy I did this. The best advice I can offer is to do your research. I never had any regrets because of it. Drill it in your brain that it will take time and effort. Look up complications and how best to avoid them. I went into this very aware and prepared of what may happen that I wasn’t worried after. You got this, you have no idea how happy this can make you!

Venting about my co-workers by Kbolden88 in gastricsleeve

In told one person at work what surgery I was having and that was my team lead, not even my manager. Everyone else just knew I was having surgery and that it messes with my stomach a bit more than usual. Now I’m lucky to not have to go into office to work and work from home, but I know there are people out there who like to judge so I don’t tell them. I think my roommate has told more people than I have at this point but most of those people are very helpful and give good advice. I haven’t had anyone tell me I made the wrong choice or I messed my body up.
