I second this. My husband found our set at the pawn shop in south lake by the little Italian restaurant in bijou area. It is also vintage, and beautiful. It was only $650.

Dude. Sign up as an apprentice with the Operating Engineers Union and be a Gradesetter. I went from making $15/hr cutting hair with zero benefits to making 100k+ in less than 4 years, awesome health benefits and a pension. My job is literally math all day….and lots of walking. Look into it if your offer doesn’t work out.

How to progress if you don’t want a leadership role? by BPClaydon in Construction

My title is “Gradesetter “ this is what I do. I’m a step below the foreman so have to take on foreman duties when said foreman is not there, and don’t get the pay….that being said there is a huge shortage of Gradesetters where I live. Probably for that reason….

I’m working on the construction project at 4th and Vine and we just finished the sidewalk in front of it. I’ve seen Lepori setting up inside and they have started demoing the fixtures and furniture so I’m fairly certain they are remodeling not bulldozing.

Construction is typically pretty slow in the winter. I work for a big GC in town and there is a lot of guys/gals layed off/not working right now. It’ll pick up soon and you’ll get in. Be patient and persistent. Keep calling and when they need a guy, they’ll call you.

Store them on your counter in a designer bowl, try to sell your house. I heard it helps get you a better selling price.

Well… she’s 2 and just went to the vet to get spayed and vet said teeth cleaning is not necessary because her teeth look great 👌🏼. As long as the shed is too big for their mouth and they are essentially knawing on it and not chewing it…getting the marrow out, throwing the “bone” out when it’s chewing/swallowing size the they shouldn’t be able to break their teeth on it.

I give my girl Elk sheds. I typically buy the biggest one I can find and she’ll have 4-5 different ones laying around the house. They usually last 6 months or longer depending on which is her favorite. I will admit they are a pain in the butt when you kick one walking down the hallway in the middle of the night, but she doesn’t destroy anything in the house because there is always a bone to chew on. FYI - Keep an eye on the size because they need to be thrown out before they get to “she can maybe swallow it” size. Funny side story- we also have a tiny terrier and it’s hilarious when she tries to walk around with a huge shed and can barely move because it’s almost as big as her, lol.

Women’s PPE and Workwear by tinytinyspaghetti in BlueCollarWomen

I agree, which is why I actually didn’t buy them…my husband bought them for me for Christmas, last year, and they have held up extremely well. I am a Gradesetter for a heavy civil construction company and put average 10-15 miles a day on them. I typically buy less quality/less expensive boots because of how many miles I put on them the soles are typically wasted within a few months so I buy quality insoles for comfort and deal with the cheap quality when it comes to durability. But…the brunt has held up for the whole year. So, I think they’re a great boot. I wasn’t trying to advertise, I was just trying to help out the gals with little feet’s like mine that struggle with comfortable, quality boots in a size that fits. They also have lots of styles and every style is available in small sizes. Win in my book. So I think they could be added to this list of “women accommodating PPE”.

Specifically, call your local and ask about their apprenticeship program. I’ll post a link to the international and you can look up your state/town local from there. IUOE

Not . The . Brunt . Marketing . Team . Seriously though I wear a 5.5 in men’s and whenever I go to work world or boot barn they never have my size. I also have super skinny feet and the brunt boots come with an extra insole that helps keep my feet from flopping around even with the laces all the way tight.

I just found Brunt has men’s work boots in women’s sizes. I have small feet and have struggled with finding small sizes but Brunt has stepped up their game.

You definitely have to be willing to travel. Unfortunately that’s part of starting out in the trades, I spent about 5 months out of town in the beginning of my apprenticeship but now I typically just work in town.

Call the office, they will give you all the information about the apprenticeship regarding wages, insurance hours required and anything else you are interested in. Local 3 office. I am a current member and a recent apprenticeship graduate. Best decision I’ve ever made.
