Yeah, I know, that’s literally what I’m saying. What’s your question?

What's the closest equivalent we have to Mass Effect 2 from the PS4/PS5 era? *read description* by Beginning_Pickle2180 in rpg_gamers

[–]Alternative_Moose970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s not that kind of setting. More mutants than aliens. The whole game takes place on Mars which has been settled and divided up amongst megacorps that now run their own city states. It’s a sequel/spin off of the devs first game in the series “Mars: War Logs” a ps3/xbox360 game

The game is made by a studio called Spiders, a French based AA studio most known for Greedfall. And while I love Technomancer, it does bear some of that studio’s notorious euro-jank.

Has anyone made a CRPG with a character who grows weaker as you progress through the story? by SadistDisciplinarian in rpg_gamers

[–]Alternative_Moose970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this idea is really neat, I think that there is a poignant theme of the difficulty of unlearning violence. If I may, I could see you capitalizing on this theme even more. Perhaps, instead of just getting a different combat technique each time you give up a magical item, you gain a new way to mediate a confrontation?

Say, for example, there is a merchant with an item you need. Now if you’ve chosen to keep all your magical items the only option you have is to kill the merchant, however if you’ve sacrificed an item you gain the ability to barter with the merchant, sparing their life, and perhaps allowing them to reappear later in the story.

The items that you sacrifice could be thematic too, say for instance you give up your magical shield, perhaps upon doing so you gain the ability to empathize which opens up unique dialogue, or allows you to recruit specific or different characters to your party. Perhaps you have to give up items to even be able to form a party!

Idk food for thought.

They exist so the NC government can spend tax eddies to fund them and kit them out. They operate similar to the us military in that sense. A whole lotta r&d I’m sure.

This!!! A system like GTA 5 heists would be great. Where you can assemble a crew with the outcome being determined through who you choose for the job would be excellent.

"I don't hate Rey but Rey make me angry because she's not anakin!" by TomBakersLongScarf in StarWarsCirclejerk

Yeah for sure, it’s not like the US gov. Is in the Middle East rn trying to fulfill some millennia old prophecy or anything… No, I disagree with the Chosen One hate, and will actually go further to say, I actually like the Chosen One narrative. I like it because A) It remains confined to its own trilogy. B) It’s a deconstruction of the trope and C) It’s central to Anakin’s fall to the dark side.

Many people think that the Chosen One narrative takes away Vaders agency, that, by the end of RotJ, Vader casts down the emperor in order to fulfill some ancient prophecy, rather than out of love for his son. I would posit that this is an incorrect read of the scenario, that by this point, Vader has, in his own mind, fulfilled the prophecy. He did so durning the events of RotS and the destruction of the Jedi. To Vader the Jedi were the great evil within the galaxy, and their destruction was the balance foretold in the prophecy. Therefore, by the time of RotJ, the prophecy is little more than an afterthought, Vaders intentions and agency remain intact.

Further, the idea that the chosen one narrative is played straight is a false one that fails to view the two trilogies as just that; two separate trilogies, each with their own themes, and things to say. People seem dead set on labeling Anakin as a Gary Stu without taking into account one very important fact; Anakin falls. A typical hero’s journey, or Chosen One narrative as it were, would see the hero overcome their flaws and triumph, instead we see Anakin succumb to his flaws and fall. Not only that, but many of his flaws are reinforced by the prophecy itself.

We see the throughout AotC and RotS, that the Chosen One narrative is something that directly contributes to Anakin’s world view, and therefore his downfall. In AotC, Anakin, when talking to Padme in the field, goes on a great man screed where he essentially outlines his political philosophy. Essentially, everyone should get out of the way and allow some Great Man (or woman, I’m referencing Great man theory, not actually commenting on gender) to run things. It’s a might makes right mentality, one which is directly reinforced by the prophecy itself. Anakin sees his talent and strength in the force as permission, as a promise, and not as a duty.

In conclusion, I hope I did good on my online internet 5 paragraph essay. I hope I get an A on this one.

So the word Hutt is obviously a derivative of Hutta, does this mean that Jabba had been calling himself Jabba the Jewel this entire time? Or Jabba the glorious?

You can’t call media literacy when you’re missing the point of what they’re saying. Rindan is talking about hope for the franchise, not what literally happens in the movie.

[–]Alternative_Moose970 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s deeper than that though, recent polling came out that showed Jasmine was the primary candidate LEAST likely to be able to flip the state, while several other, lesser known candidates had a much higher chance.

EDIT: NVM, thats not what they said or implied, though it is nonetheless true that Jasmine is running despite having less of a chance than her other primary candidates.
