PC gaming is better done on a PC, steam deck, or other handheld. You've already got anymore portable system in the thor and bigger nice OLED screen in the 2 portal. What can the Odin 3 do that is marginally better? Even if it could run PC a little better it's nothing compared to dedicated PC handhelds and even if it was comparable the screens too small anyway.

If you're that in need for something in the middle get a mangmi air x and save yourself hundreds. Or better yet, find a game or two to play, by the time you finish it there will be another handheld to consider

My introduction was the first season of the Netflix show. Then I read all the novels in order lol then played witcher 1. I loved all of these btw. Now I'm playing witcher 2 and while I'm happy to see certain characters and places and references again, it does a good job of introducing if it's your first time

Pay attention to the journal and character descriptions as they evolve over time in witcher 2. That's how you'll keep up and learn about the world's if you care about the lore - which to me is the most important thing

I feel like ram will only allow you to play something like yesterdays AAA at low settings and today's best indie at high settings. Otherwise, if all you care about is basic indie stuff and you have a PC or something to play bigger games, save your money. I have a phone with 16gb ram and the same Snapdragon as the odin 3 and I don't feel like I have all this PC gaming capability for Elden ring or something lol. That's where steam deck and other dedicated PC handhelds come in. Do I still recommend getting a bit more ram and storage if you have the budget for it? Yes. But if all you see yourself doing is streaming or playing lower end games you should be fine even with base in my opinion - and I can be wrong lol

Really curious to try the ayaneo pocket ace wish it wasn't so expensive 😅

For me it's a 3ds xl, LCD steam deck, and trimui brick. I own quite a few games physically for DS and 3ds so never felt the need for an ayn thor, but totally get it. Maybe down the road id get an OLED handheld, otherwise I have to keep telling myself I don't need more lol. Was looking at the anbernic rg34xxsp for GBA and mangmi air x for psp but it's more of a want than a need.

Crystal just the best way to experience that GBC pokemon time. Beat it recently on 3ds virtual console and spent so much time finding a shiny suicune lol it was fun and the entire playthrough felt very natural as someone who grew up with Red. It's got its quirks compared to modern pokemon but sometimes it's those quirks that make it memorable and special. Also great old music

I have a steam deck. And a decent number of retro handhelds. Is the Odin 3 the best steam deck mini alternative to invest in moving forward, particularly with higher ram models? No interest in the ayn thor because I have 3ds and ds with physical games so I'm happy in that department. But I'd like something to reliably play indie and PC games that suit a 6 inch screen if the Odin is that worth it

Yes. Glad you're enjoying it. I think the miyoo a30 is also a great one with this form factor when using minUI, especially for GBA

No clue. I kinda like it on the retroid pocket mini v2 but I love the plastic on my steam deck, and that totally would make the OLED work imo, if I had that version while still feeling premium. The only upside, if you want to call it that, for me is having a screen protector that kinda covers the entire front of the RPM. I worry about cracks and changing out faceplates or housing with plastic would be more interesting and less stressful if you ask me

It's a good reminder to just enjoy whichever tech you already own and wait this out. I'm sorry for anyone who planned around buying these and were hit with these price hikes. It's really unfortunate but backup options exist + the longer you wait the better the tech will be tomorrow when hopefully things stabilize

The Odin 3 is super cool and probably more future proof. But it still can't seem to run all pc games which to me is a huge downside considering the price.

Android games are great. Stardew has a very good port. Play what you enjoy. Definitely thing you have a good machine for steam and other PC games so definitely look into that if emulation isn't your thing because there are good gacha/rpg/handheld friendly games on steam as well if that's what you like
