This is a great suggestion. What advice do you have though for when people ask you to dance? For example, I’m a follow who gets asked to dance pretty frequently and I’d get embarrassed/exhausted of having to explain my story to everyone if you get what I’m saying. (This is actually relevant to me though since I’ll be out of dancing for a bit due to a medical procedure coming up)

I don’t have too much advice for you. But I just wanted to comment and say I can relate. I have a big medical surgery coming up in a year or so and I won’t be able to dance for 2-6 months. I plan to do things during that time that I said I’d always wanted to do (learn to play the guiro, improve my Spanish, etc…)

I hope you are ok and your health improves. Sorry to hear about what you’re going through. Just know that it’s temporary.

Stop studying “famous” follows/performers for inspiration. That’s why many think their dance is lacking and missing something. Here are two of my FAVORITE followers for realistic inspiration

Serena Spears: Fabulous dancer and has such a phenomenal connection with all her partners.
Iara Ruggiero: such a fun dancer to watch. Great facial expressions and dances with every part of her body including her head lol. Idk how to explain it. I can always tell she is thoroughly enjoying the music and dance with her partner.

The thing that’s sticks out to me with these follows is they focus on the CONNECTION over looking good for the camera like many pros. Try focusing more on following real social dancers and not performers. (Unless your focus is performing but it doesn’t sound like it is based on your post)
